Skyzone SKY04X Pro Goggles (Analog)
#1
Skyzone have released a new set of goggles last week named the Skyzone SKY04X Pro goggles. Being analog goggles, they seem to have gone largely unnoticed in the FPV community and it doesn't look like any of the FPV influencers were sent any because there currently appear to be zero reviews about them on the internet.

Changes over the SKY04X V1/V2 goggles are:
  • New Optics which have a 1920 x 1080p resolution and a bigger 52° FOV.
  • 720p 100fps HDMI Input.
  • No dual module any more. A SteadyView receiver is still included but it is now diversity only instead of quadversity. The second module bay houses an additional cooling fan instead.
EDIT: The price is $499 USD which is listed as a "Sale" price. The full retail price is listed as $599 USD.

Skyzone SKY04X Pro Product Page: https://www.skyzonefpv.com/en-gb/products/sky04x-pro

Skyzone Wrote:The SKY04X PRO is the upgrade version of SKY04X, with new optics and a new OLED panel, the SKY04X pro can give pilot 52 degrees of field of view, giving huge immersive fpv experience, also with a new OLED panel, the 1920*1080 resolution, and a 100FPS frame rate, use can have way better experience when using the digital VRX system.

The new matte painting also avoid fingerprints and reduces glare.

To be aware, To cool the high-performance OLED panel, the right side bay is installed with cooling fan, so SKY04 X PRO didn't support quadversity mode.

If they offered trade-ins, I might, but just to gain more resolution and high framerate optics isn't gonna push me to spend $500. The previous version still treats me great.

What an interesting turn of events. The latest Skyzone Analog goggles are priced more than the latest DJI and Walksnail Digital goggles. All with 1080p OLED screens. Who would have thought...

I like the 4:3 screen ratio on my "old" SKY04X glasses. Are there OLED matrices with a screen size of 1920x1440?

Yeah, I think Skyzone are probably going to struggle with a price point of $499. These SKY04X Pro goggles are only going to be of interest to hardcore analog pilots and long range flyers IMO.

Most of that cost will be in the optics module that contains the expensive OLED screens which Skyzone won't be manufacturing themselves and will just be buying in, so they are going to be constrained by supplier costs of that particular part. They are also stating that $499 is a "Sale" price and that the the original RRP is actually $599, so I wonder if they will go back up to full price after the pre-order period is over Thinking If they do then I can't see them selling many pairs at that price.

I don't think so. Not in that tiny size specification at least. OLED screens are only made by a few companies in the world and none of them seem to be making display panels these days that aren't in widescreen format because they are mainly designed for other applications. FPV is a very niche market and probably one of the few applications that still makes use of the 4:3 format. Some could probably be custom-made to order but it would cost an absolute fortune to have manufactured in such small quantities with any costs being passed on customers who I doubt would want to pay over $1000 for a pair of goggles.

Hello guys. Smile New to the FPV and looked for the first goggles for my analog whoop.

What I noticed from the new Sky04X Pro:

16:9 screen now, so 4:3 analog camera will not use full FOV, I calculated 42° (regular Sky04X has 46°).

HDMI input can do 720p 100Hz or 1080p 60Hz.

New color (not glossy).

Still uncertain if the new version is preferable to the regular one. It has a lower price now though LOL (USD 499 and some -20 coupons available, so 479 with free shipping).

Aha! No second bay for the receiver. An additional source of noise? Only black color at the moment. https://www.skyzonefpv.com/products/sky0...olor=black

But other colors will be available.

On the Black Friday regular version (https://www.skyzonefpv.com/products/sky0...5s&mode=v2) will have same 499 price, as Skyzone support promised.

You're right, high resolution displays are too expensive.

That's also still a 16:9 widescreen display:..

1440 / 2560 = 0.5625 (which equates to a ratio of 16:9)

For 4:3 you need a resulting value of 0.75...

1080 / 1440 = 0.75 (which equates to a ratio of 4:3)

This would be a great option as I have the WS and HDZ vrx's. Just make a 3d printed mount and I can use both systems on the same goggle. Since Digital goggles seem to struggle with analog capabilities this might be one of the better options on the market actually. Starting to find that analog is probably the best option for tiny whoops and micros to save weight and overall cost.

Only downside is I'd be unable to use the 90fps camera on the hdzero vrx. Not necessarily a deal breaker though.

I was going to pull the trigger on these to treat myself. I have some attitude's right now and wanted something nicer. I only fly analog and the bigger fov really appealed. Since they are 16:9 and not 4:3 it looks like it would actually be smaller than the 04x, correct? I've been poking at similar resolutions on Oscar's comparison page.

Sky04x Pro: HDMI IN 720P 100FPS
There is no point in having a high resolution 1080P screen when the input is 720P maximum.

It'll still take in 1080p60, just like the previous goggle. There just won't be any need to scale it.
