0 I have a Mobula 6HD, a BetaFPV95x-v3, and a Jumper t-lite.
I also have Skyzone Cobra X goggles with 2 x Mini 4 High Gain Stubby 5.8Ghz Antenna (SMA) (RHCP)
And a FXT Viper with 1x Invader Patch Antenna and 1x Raptor Omni Antenna
I lose video range if I fly behind my garage about 20 metres away, or if I stand at the front of the house and fly in the back garden. The Beta is better because I've set it to 200mW I think. Also the tx loses range and starts bleeping at the same time.
Is this normal? What would I need to do to get better tx and vtx range? Crossfire? Digital Video?
Cheers,

118 The Mobula 6 HD only has a 25mW vtx and that's what is going to affect video range/penetration. Not easy upgrading the vtx on the Happy model board and adding an external VTX is not worth the effort.
Nothing much you can do about it especially if you are going to fly behind a structure such as your garage 20m away.
Even a high power vtx will either give you more range (LOS) or more penetration through walls of a house but not both at the same time.
For the TX range on your BetaFPV quad, the built-in SPI RX giving you about 200m is as good as it gets.
I would personally leave both these quads alone and fly them as is because the extra work you will put in will add weight and you might actually make the quads fly worser than they came from factory.

0 Thank you that's good to know that they are working as intended.
For my next quad, what do I need to be looking for to improve range? Do I need to go digital vtx? ERLS addon for my JumperTX? Better antennae on the goggles?
Cheers.

11 20-Oct-2021, 12:46 PM (This post was last modified: 20-Oct-2021, 12:47 PM by GiantAntCowboy.) Flying behind things is tough... but for increased range could also try using a Helical antenna, here's a short video of my cheap EMAX EX Pilot flying 500m+ with great signal except when I flew through the trees...
Helical antennas are cheap, and also very easy to make, in the description is my DIY antenna video if you're interested. I'm cheap and try to do great things with as little money as possible... lol Cheers
