RPM Filter for TinyHawk 2
#1
Hi all,

I'm quite new to quads and bought a TinyHawk 2 :-)

Afterwards I installed BF4.2 and BLHeli_S with bidirectionsl DShot as I wanted to use RPM filtering.
I got the quad flying again with RPM filter enabled! :-)

As I'm not that experienced, I was not aware that I also have to update the PID and filter settings.

So, now my quad flies well with the 1S battery. With the stock 2S battery, the motors are getting quite hot.

Does anyone have good settings which I could use?

Thanks a lot,
hang

RPM filter does not work with blheli_S.
you have to flash Blheli_M or Jesc firmware in the ESCs.
and in any case with 2S it is very easy to heat them. I always use 1S and it goes very well.

in these tread, we discussed it a lot

I haven't had chance to confirm it myself but the very latest version (16.71) of the standard BLHeli_S firmware is said to bi-directional DSHOT built into it.

Yes, I installed 16.73, as it said it's the latest version supporting bidirectional dshot.

Bidirectional is working, I can see the motor rpm in betaflight.

At this point I'm trying to remember why I preferred Blelim, it seemed to me RPM ... instead they are other features ...

hot motor = lots of current

Either :
1. flying like crazy
2. FET broken - shorted
3. PID - too much D term noise
(also rare: rubbing, bearing broken or phases shorted)

Often its the last.
RPM filtering is very good. It adds some filterlag. Make sure its working on Motors tab (prop off).

Go check UAVTech presets. Likely D is too high (or P too low).

On 3" toothpick typical is P55 I80 D35, or on weaker even P66 I90 D40. The P/D is 1.6x.

To brush up my memory I wanted to try the latest version of blheli_S,
latest downloadable BlHeli_S is 16.7.
where did you find the Blheli_S 16.71 or 16.73?
maybe I misunderstood and you also meant BlHeli_M?

You need to use BLHeli Configurator to get the BLHeli_S 16.71 firmware. For some reason it's not listed in the BLHeliSuite software, at least it wasn't the last time I looked. In BLHeli Configurator, 16.71 is marked as a beta firmware. I've not actually tried it on any quads myself.
