0 04-Sep-2020, 05:51 PM (This post was last modified: 04-Sep-2020, 05:51 PM by ITGeekLondon.) I’ve always flown 4s 1300-1500mah packs and been used to good resistance being between 5-15ohms
However I’ve recently got into mini 6s either 550mah or 850mah
On my GNB batteries that are brand new on my 550mah batteries I’m seeing weird resistance numbers, sometimes not even that close to each other and at times up to 40ohms.
Is this normal??
I’m measuring resistance during charge with my Q8 charger
Any advice appreciated

388 40 ohm is high. Maybe contact your vendor.

0 It’s the same on 5 other brand new GNB 6s 550mah batteries!

0 I should also mention this is their first charge.
I’ve heard that first charge resistance can be much higher than the following ones.... could that be it?

0 Don’t have another charger and in a few Facebook groups I’ve asked people seem to suggest the following
1: GNB batteries tend to high have resistance than other makes anyway
2: the lower the MAH the higher the expected resistance is.
Oscars page clearly mentions on the average 1300-1500mah battery. So not sure his article accounts for the much smaller MAH.
I trust your guys opinions more than I trust my other sources but the fact I have 5 brand new batteries all showing very similar resistance readings makes me a little more comfortable(although not sure it should)
I’m also comfortable my ISDT Q8 is reading the resistance properly because I get much more expected results with my 1300-1500mah 4s batteries

0 04-Sep-2020, 08:08 PM (This post was last modified: 04-Sep-2020, 08:09 PM by ITGeekLondon.) On my 4s 1500 cnhl batteries I get readings of about 6ohms
On my Tattu R-line 1300mah I also get around 6-7ohms
Sorry for the triple post. But I’m also told the first charge of a brand new battery can show much higher resistance so I will be checking the figures again after flying tomorrow

103 04-Sep-2020, 08:32 PM (This post was last modified: 04-Sep-2020, 08:33 PM by hugnosed_bat.) you need a lipo checker!
i never had a new gnb with a near high resistance, i ordered replacements for batteries arrived at more than 10ohm... i would check it twice with another mesuring tool, sure i would get a replacement for every single pack!
dont use them bevor additional mesuring, contact the vendor
if your charger doesnt mesure correctly, you can destroy internal resistance of the batteries by the charger.

0 I have the ISDT-BG8S battery checker but it’s doesn’t tell you resistance
The readings I’m giving are per cell, not for the entire battery
Again I’m comfortable the ISDT Q8 readings are correct
Gonna fly them tomorrow and then check the resistance again
I’m almost certain on all my batteries that the first charge I got a higher resistance reading than after cycling them once or twice.

0 What Lipo checker can check the resistance of each cell?

103 05-Sep-2020, 12:03 AM (This post was last modified: 05-Sep-2020, 12:04 AM by hugnosed_bat.) i got a very old voltcraft checker, i bought a very tiny (smaller than many lipocheckers) charger from toolkitrc m600 its 20bucks, i use it as lipochecker on the field, both can read the internal resistance of each cell.
isdt works very nice normaly, as you described your other lipos... probably the other lipos resistance is enough comparison. i would like replacement without any flighttesting or balancing.

0 So i thought i would keep you all up to date. My thoughts were confirmed today (and in line what a lot of others said).
So my first charge of the brand new batteries showed resistance levels of around 34-40ohms. This had me worried hence my post above.
I went out over the weekend, and flew all the packs down to 3.8 per cell.
The second charge of the same brand new batteries now shows 15-20ohms
I am flying again tomorrow, so will check the levels after a 3rd charge and report back here!

0 I beg you pardon in advance for not having opened a new thread but I have a couple of questions regarding IR that possibly could help broadening the original topic :-)
Being a loyal Tattu owner I was surfing the net looking for some new lipos but I stumbled upon Ovonic brand. Intrigued by their low prices decided to give them a try and buy a few 6s 1000.
I couldn’t make a worse choice :-(
Since the first charge I found each cell was showing values around 15-20 Milliohms, values that even my one years old Tattus never displayed a single damn time.
Those values are getting a bit lower after first cycle but keep staying above 10 Milliohms.
I'm not much confident in their reliability, do you think I should return them?
