Removing Blue screen on monitor
#1
Bought a tiny little 4.3" monitor, but when there is no signal it just goes to blue screen.
Does anyone know if there is an easy/cheap way to get rid of blue screen and show snow instead when signal goes low or when there is signal?

I used to put a hobbyking DVR between signal and the monitor, that seemed to work. But i'd avoid using that thing again, it's pretty bulky Smile

I have the monitor from this goggle from Hobbyking, and it works flawlessly. Too bad they discounted it.

Just found an old thread from Konrad about adding a DVR between VRX and goggles. Maybe i can do something like that Smile
https://intofpv.com/t-eachine-goggles-tw...ncy?page=2

Edit: I tested it, the Eachine Pro DVR does indeed stop blue screen and shows snow instead of blue screen when there is no signal, so we are getting closer to what we want Smile
Only annoying thing is the DVR has overlay logos and recording timestamp... I can't seem to find a way to remove them.

Maybe I would have to add a switch like Konrad did, When signal gets too weak, I could get signal form DVR to avoid blue screen, despite seeing the annoying logos. Then when signal gets better, I switch it back to DVR by-pass and get rid of the logos... The other thing is the video feed from DVR gets really choppy when it's recording, so it would be nice to have the option to bypass DVR when needed.

Here is an idea. You can run the video signal through a Max7456 OSD chip. The chip overlay should keep a signal that your monitor will not put your monitor into a blue screen. I would use a spare FC with OSD. Turn on OSD feature but remove onscreen text.

Edit : if the above works, then we can look into just using the Max7456 without all the Betaflight overlays.

Have you checked to see if your monitor settings have an option to turn it off.

I have the Eachine 'pro' DVR on my Eachine goggles two, I have a switch that switches the display in the goggles between the DVR video out (shows the DVR OSD) and the standard FPV video. When using the DVR's video out, I notice there is much more lag and dropped frames than there is when displaying the standard video feed. The DVR actually seems to work better if you do not use the DVR video out too. The only time I actually use the switch to display the DVR video is when I am watching the DVR footage back through the goggles. Also the DVR doesn't record its own OSD unless the DVR video feed is the one is being displayed.

I am not sure how relevant this info is to getting rid of the blue screen, just sharing my DVR experience.

Here is another idea. Blue screen is usually any overlay when the monitor detects loss video sync. If you can locate the OSD chip in the monitor, you can probably bypass the chip.

And even another idea, most OSD chip have a pin that sense video. I wonder if there is a way to trick the chip into seeing the signal all the time.
