RC Smoothing Init failed sometimes
#1
So normally everything is working fine when I ARM my drone, but sometimes I see the error rcsmoothing.

In betaflight docu I found that rc smoothing init has failed.

So my question is: "What causes this to fail? Is this a fail on the Transmitter(Remote) or on my drone? How to fix this, when it occures?

I already tried reconnecting everything. Turning on/off transmitter and/or drone. And I never found anything related to this init failed in the internet. Only what smoothing does and how to configure it.

I've never seen this issue / error message, but all filtering is done by the FC so it won't be a receiver issue. The FC just takes the RC packet information from the receiver and then smooths out the erratic "steps" in the ever changing RC command values into a nice gentle curve so the quad doesn't jerk around.

What CPU load are you running on the FC? Go to the CLI and type the "tasks" command. If everything looks normal then I would try re-flashing the Betaflight firmware ensuring that the "Full chip erase" option is switched in case you have some corruption in the currently loaded firmware.

I always wondered why there was a tab to turn on the alarm for smoothing failure..... I never heard of an issue with it either.... I don't have an answer but i wanna be alerted to your solution ;D

So I am camping this weekend, so not BetaFlight until monday.

The alarm is on by default and even default to beeper.
So no worries about that. ;-)

And it only happen sometimes. So the theory with CPU load sound viable. I will check for this next time. Thank you.

Smoothing is important. If it does turn ou to be cpu load you might be able to switch to interperlation (or whatever the counter to smoothing is called I can't remember exactly.... I think it's interperlation though..... well....... something like that ;D lol) if worst comes to worst.
