r9mm broken
#1
good morning, yesterday I was around with my drone and I crashed, at first I didn't think there was any damage but then when I got home I saw that the r9mm antenna was broken in half as in the drawing below. I wanted to understand if there was a way to fix it and reattach the detached piece (perhaps by soldering) or if it was better to take the completely new receiver or just replace the antenna

Your can try soldering it but that may change the length and the solder may also affect the antenna tune.

I would just buy a new antenna will cost $5 or $10.

can I use it in its current state or would I compromise something? at the range level how would it be? because I tried at home to see if it worked anyway and I didn't see any problems but maybe if I go out and take a turn further it stops taking and it could be unstable right?

You'll get reduced range. How much is difficult to say without trying it and keeping an eye on the RSSI while hoping you don't get a failsafe.

As kafie said, just get a new antenna. It's not worth the risking the potential loss of your quad for the sake of $5-$10 for a new antenna.

yes yes, of course I have already ordered a new antenna but I wanted to understand if I could still make some small flights while waiting for it to arrive! Smile

Although not advisable, you could fly around yourself within a max of 50m since 900mhz has good penetration.

Do not attempt to fly in an urban area with people around.

Remember to set failsafe to drop (avoid gps rescue) and be ready to disarm the minute you feel a lack of stick control as you may have a flyaway or you may hurt someone or damage their property.
