R-XSR and Literadio 2 not binding
#1
Hey everyone,

I am new in the FPV world. I bought iFlight Nazgul5 with FrSky R-XSR to start and also BetaFPV Literadio 2. I order a different transmitter too, but for now, I only have Literadio 2. I can see both transmitter and receiver in bind mode, but they are not complete. Here my steps;

1 - Start Literadio 2
2 - Press and hold r-xsr receiver bind button and connect the battery to quad while holding
3 - Red, blue and green lights constantly on so I think this means in bind mode
4 - Press the bind button on Literadio 2, it starts flashing blue and red. so that means it's on bind mode too

But they are never paired and the lights on the receiver never change. I changed Literadio mode to Frsky D16 FCC, Frsky D16 LBT, and Frsky D8. But the result never changed. I couldn't find any other way to bind them, so I don't know what should I do/try. Do you have any idea?

FrSky R-XSR receivers are now being supplied with ACCST 2.x.x firmware pre-installed on them from the factory and that includes R-XSR receivers which come with the BNF quads like the Nazgul 5. The BetaFPV LiteRadio2 doesn't support the ACCST 2.x.x protocol so you are going to need to flash ACCST 1.x.x protocol firmware to the R-XSR. The ACCST 1.x.x firmware you need is in the ZIP file in the following link...

Hey, thank you for your answer. They are all looks compatible while buying Sad

As far as I found, you need taranis tx to flash the r-xsr. But I don't have. Another way is FC pass through but the smart port needs to be connected. When I check the board on the Nazgul5, r-xsr connected with only 3 cables. 5V, GND, and SBUS OUT, so s-port is not connected. I think that means I can't flash it via FC pass through too.

Is there any other way?

Yes, you can do it from a Windows computer using an FrSky STK Tool which is a USB device. Just Google for that and you shoud find some vendors who sell it.

Hi, I am actually having the same issue. Did you solve it? Now, I finally got the STK tool to flash the receiver with the file linked above (i.e. RXSR_FCC_ACCST_191112.frk). Set the LiteRadio on Frsky D16 FCC protocol (One flashing) and still not binding. Any other detail I may be missing?  Huh

thanks!

Hey was having the same problem. I flashed the R-XSR using the STK tool and couldn't bind. However, I updated the firmware on my LiteRadio and I got it to bind!
I used these instructions: https://support.betafpv.com/hc/en-us/art...radio-2-SE
And the firmware I used was the latest version of LiteRadio_2_SE_FRSKY_FUTABA_Mode2_2021_1_18.bin

Hope this helps!

Hey Y'all!
I've been following this thread in order to connect my R-XSR with my lightradio 2 SE, and may have ruined the soldering pads for the normal SBUS connections on my flight controller as my soldering skills are not great along with using a $20 cheapo iron. I was curious to see if the lightradio supports FPORT because those pads are still fresh. I know that there are some advantages to using fport and I am open to using it. If anyone knows that would be great!

Separate question specifically for @nate28r, my barcode for the lightradio has the letters and numbers A15 which I'm assuming means that it was produced on January 15 which is right outside the date listed for one of the specific software's you need to flash the transmitter with. Considering this, which software should I use?
Thanks!

The use of FPORT has nothing to do with the transmitter. That is the protocol used between the receiver and the flight controller. Whether or not you configure and wire up the receiver for SBUS or FPORT, the protocol used between the transmitter and the R-XSR will still be the ACCST protocol. So the answer is yes, you can wire up your receiver using FPORT if you want.

Keep in mind that if you're using an F4 flight controller without a dedicated FPORT / TELEM pad you will need to solder from the uninverted SmartPort pad to a TX pad on your FC. This is a really tiny pad and easy to burn or lift so if you're already struggling to solder to the FC pads then this might not be a good option.

I considered doing these updates.. then I found out that it didn’t support d-8 (spi rx)... and I have quite a few small quads with these receivers....I had 2 choices, update and add new RXs to all my small quads...Or, upgrade to Crossfire.. well, after having several RXSR receivers literally fail safe 50 feet in front of me... guess what i decided to do..

Im not really sure what to do anymore, what are some small scale receivers (3" quad small) that work out of the box with the lightradio?

Nick Burns uses the “radio master” d-8 RX a lot on his small stuff they are $8 a piece

So I got the R-XSR flashed and I've updated the transmitter to the LiteRadio_2_SE_FRSKY_FUTABA_Mode2_2021_1_18.bin, but I still cannot get it to bind. Do I press the bind button on the transmitter and do the whole process in 10 seconds or do I hit the setup button and if so it is the 2 or 3 chirp setting? Ive tried all of these combinations and it still won't bind. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Nevermind, I gave up and returning the literadio and spending the extra for a taranis lite
