Prop Colours
#1
Open note to quad prop manufacturers.

The majority of countries demand that to be legal when flying FPV you have to have a spotter with good clear direct vision of the UAV.

When flying LOS, the pilot has to be able to clearly see the quad to determine its orientation.

You need to be able to find a downed quad amongst scenery after a crash.

These all demand good visibility of the UAV components.

It is NOT AT ALL helpful to only have props available that are dull and mostly transluscent. The current trend from several of the top names towards a very limited range of translucent blue, translucent grey, translucent white and clear, this across most sizes inc tiny whoops and their frames (Happymodel, I'm talking to you!) , is unhelpful, if not actually bordering on dangerous.

Not only a quad matter either, wasn't long back when a major Helicopter manufacturer had two 3D models in their range with a mix of part dull silver grey and dull green canopies.   Poop

You are not selling fit for purpose product................... PLEASE stop!

Some folks don’t want to be seen in the air.

I’m not one of them. I want to try some of the light up led props, but, I think they’re only available in 5”, and I primarily fly 4” and under. Sad
Dangerous operations.

Disclaimer: I don’t know wtf I’m talking about.
I wish I could get the smell of burnt electronics out of my nose.

I’m all for the brightest colors that can be SEEN when u loose ur quad in either a tree or tall grass

I think some people also like neutral coloured or clear props so they don't show up so much in the FPV feed, but I personally prefer frames where the props aren't in the view of the FPV camera in the first place, where possible.

I have had some pretty bright props on but they have NEVER helped me find my drone easier; either on the ground or in the air. I don’t think my wife would be able to home in on some 3 inch orange props 1000 meters away. I know I can’t. How does the prop color help?

I definitely think contrast (bright colors) can aid the human eye in finding things. Reds, pinks, and true white are all very eye catching against a natural background. If high-vis is a big concern, consider the environment you will fly in the most and contrast that background.

Having bright orange, or pink props makes locating ur quad in a tree 30feet up. A beeper is great to help which tree u maybe in.. but the props will help you with a visual location…. And even then it may not help.. in the south we have “Spanish Moss” and it will wrap up a quad so fast it will disappear before your eyes..

I usually have the front prop pair coloured to minimise unwanted distraction into the camera if visible. The rear pair will be as brightly coloured as possible to help me orientate out of aeros if LOS or just to aid my spotter. If the front props are not intruding into the video space, they will be a contrasting bright colour to the front.

Also helps air to air avoidance or recognition of the next target and their likely track. Being in a mostly grass and tree landscape, we avoid green, you know, just like countries flags.  Whistling

Similarly we run rear LED strips, mine, usually orange, with the centre pair of lights displaying arm orange and disarm green as a useful check.

I'm still laughing at a 3" prop quad over half a mile away being visible as regulation intent at all!   ROFL

if they would only provide just 25mw vtxs?
its also good that they ignore strange regulations, what parts would result if they would? it might be something sensless than.

i like pink for canopies and rotors, its the colour which seems to shine most for me to find a crashed quad.

my mobula7 frame backthan which lights up in the dark was nice, i would like to get again whoopframe which is more visible in the dark.

I've used many colors, none of them are any easier to spot than the drone itself when crashing in fields in my experience when crashing in natural areas. Even the light yellow/green stand out where you'd think they'd blend in more than pinks and other colors.

looking for a single rotorblade and the quad itself does follow mostly, give it a try
