I had to get a little creative with the motor wiring becuase I am using the Mamba Mk4 AIO F740. Rather than printing an adapter I used the existing holes in the frame that orient the FC like a standard stack. I oriented the FC in Betaflight 45 degrees and all seems to be working. The GPS works but the MAG is not. I think I need to re flash betaflight and add Mag support. I was up till 1 am before I finally quit so I could wake up for work lol. This is my first substantial quad. How’s the frame quality? Very good. Chamfered edges and I love the fact that it uses torx screws. So much in fact that I am probably going to order a mix set of torx screws to convert my other quads. It also has the option to order 4" arms if I want to move up in prop size. Its a bit on the heavy side but very solid. This 3.5 one is on the heavier side of all the 3-3.5 frames I've messed with but this might be worthy of decasing a vista for. Did you happen to weigh the frame on it's own? Did it come in around 58g as advertised? • Posts: 276 Threads: 70 Likes Received: 183 in 96 posts Likes Given: 59 Joined: Jan 2023 Reputation: 2 (09-May-2023, 09:27 PM)sevro Wrote: I've got the Pirat Sloop v3 and it's a damn fine frame, great fit and finish. Thinking now if its worth taking all apart to weigh it lol My justification for this frame over the AOS was first it was in stock and second since I am using the walksnail 1s instead of a full size HD unit I should still keep the weight around 230 grams. • Posts: 276 Threads: 70 Likes Received: 183 in 96 posts Likes Given: 59 Joined: Jan 2023 Reputation: 2 Well, my weight calculations were significantly off. I did not take into account how beefy the Brother hobby motors are and for some reason I was using the weight of the HGLRC 1303 motors I have in my calculations. Well the BH motors are double the Weight, so all said and done I am at an AUW of 254g with an 850mah battery. I was really trying to keep it at 230g which is still possible if I go with a Pyrodrone 700mah battery or use one of my tattu 4s 550's but I will have to fly it and see. First off though I have to re design the GPS mount. I designed it blindly before I had the frame in hand and the props hit the GPS. Which as it turns out I am going to have to move the GPS location anyway. I was hoping using a walksnail GPS I would still get lock with it bieng right under the antenna but it appears it still interfears with the antenna. I have no plans to run an action cam so will probably mount it at the nose were the action cam goes. When I was reading the post yesterday and looking at the weight of the VTX/Cam I figured you'd be around 230g not counting the GPS which doesn't show a weight. It's amazing how 20g adds up real quick in all the extra hardware, cap, wire... Then again that Tattu 850 battery you're using all mine come in at around 9-10g lighter than advertised weight. Maybe yours are heavier or closer to the listed spec weight. • Posts: 1,381 Threads: 119 Likes Received: 1,418 in 734 posts Likes Given: 1,093 Joined: Jun 2019 Reputation: 41 Lovely build! If you can soft mount the vtx i would strongly recommend that, they can be fragile buggers these 1s vtxs. • Posts: 276 Threads: 70 Likes Received: 183 in 96 posts Likes Given: 59 Joined: Jan 2023 Reputation: 2 (11-May-2023, 07:31 AM)ph2t Wrote: Lovely build! It has a base UAV tech 2-3" tune for now but I completed everything last night. Did a quick hover test and now I just need to fly and tune it. I am running minimal filters and heavily relying on RPM filtering with bheli 32. The graphs are surprisingly clean if I am logging it correctly lol. Its got a LOT more punch than the 1s and 2s quads I have been flying and I will probably be better off flying this one in the park instead of my back yard for both people safety and quad collision safety But I did get a test flight in. I was really taking it easy getting used to the new feel. My only complaint so far is the battery sag when punching it is pretty severe even with the Tattu 850mah batteries. AUW weight is 254 grams. I was shooting for 230 but busted that. there is not a lot I can do for weight savings save from a lighter frame. Seems that a lot of people with this frame run 1804 motors which may be in my future but I will play around some more. I was thinking of dropping to a 700mah battery but seeing the sag I get with the 850 I am not sure that would work out to well. Thanks, I was pretty impressed with myself this being my first time doing a complete tune from the ground up. It was crazy windy out too, I thought she performed pretty well. If I may respectfully say, please be careful when flying over neighbour's houses and public roads. Ya never know when sh1t goes south. I've had a few expensive lessons on this myself unfortunately. Interested to know how you feel that new ws gps performs? 19 sats on takeoff is pretty good! |
