[New] Original Prusa XL CoreXY 3D Printer
#1
Prusa have just released details of their new flagship FDM printer named the Prusa XL which is a CoreXY printer. Now open for pre-orders which requires a 10% deposit with the first units shipping in Q2/Q3 2022 assuming there are no manufacturing issues or delays. The total cost is starts at ~$2000 USD plus tax and shipping for an XL that comes supplied with a single tool head all the way up to ~$3500 USD plus tax and shipping for an XL that comes supplied with the complete set of 5 tool heads, so I think it will probably be out of reach for anyone but the most hardcore of 3D printing hobbyists and some of the professionals who do 3D printing for a living.

It's too expensive for me and I don't have the space for something this big anyway, so for now I'll just stick with my trusty i3 MK3S Smile

At that price tag I doubt I will ever recover the investment in a USD 2K printer.

I bought my Prusa i3 MK3S just over 2 years ago and I can safely say that even after all that time I am still a long way off from breaking even on my 750 GBP investment, let alone making any money back. That said, I bought it as a "tool" much like any other DIY power tools I have in my garage many of which I also haven't recouped my investment on, but I guess that is sometimes the price you pay to have those sort of "toys" at your immediate disposal which you can just pick up and use at moments notice if and when you need them.

That said, as nice as the Prusa XL looks, even if I did have the space I think I would find it hard to justify spending almost 2000 GBP on one when what I currently have only gets light use at best.

Hi and sorry for reviving! Is there any budget picks available(trying to choose from this list)? Of course, Prusa is a very famous brand with high-quality printers, but their prices hit the pocket...

There are no budget options in the Prusa XL printer range, and never will be. The only "budget" printer you can get from Prusa is the Mini (~$400 USD).

At the end of the day it depends what you want. You either spend more money on a printer that "just works" out of the box and has full support from the company who makes it, with little to no time spent tinkering, or you spend less money on something that you need to rely on community support for and which you have to invest more time and effort in to get things working the way you want.

My Prusa i3 MK3S has been working flawlessly since the day I bought and assembled it back in 2019. I've only had to re-lube the linear bearings and stop using crappy quality TPU. That is all. Other than that it has "just worked" whenever I need to switch it on and print something.
