Had these been done, I’m betting sales would have doubled. Im in the market for a new set of goggles, AND I also have the Sharkbyte module, with a lot of annalog quads.. even if I didn’t have the module, having the analog option may have been the deciding factor • Posts: 1,312 Threads: 50 Likes Received: 832 in 504 posts Likes Given: 372 Joined: Jul 2018 Reputation: 51 (23-Oct-2022, 01:04 PM)Rob Axel Wrote: They made a HUGE mistake not having a analog module bay and a hdmi input on the goggles. I'm using HD3s, so they're a bit tired (need to pull power from the waste-of-space bay to run a decent module, resolution too low for 'real' HD, no OLED) but I'm not going to take a risk on the new Dominators at this point. When (if) I change to digital it'll be a gradual process and I'm not taking two sets of goggles out to the field so I'll want something that can handle both. At the moment all they do is Walksnail and it's just too janky to commit to, and we're not the only ones thinking it. I have no idea what Fatshark were thinking by tying the success of their flagship project completely to a third party tech. All they had to do was stick a module bay in it. Bizarre. The ground is for dead people. • Posts: 223 Threads: 7 Likes Received: 202 in 114 posts Likes Given: 105 Joined: Jun 2022 Reputation: 4 Yep they definitely should have at the very least, added an AV input for one of those adapters for analog. It's not a very elegant solution, but it's definitely better than being locked into one system on a pair of goggles. I suppose for Fatshark, maybe it was them announcing they are done with analog? Maybe after this whole "Joint Venture" they will be done with FPV completely lol. • Posts: 21,212 Threads: 583 Likes Received: 8,944 in 6,619 posts Likes Given: 1,425 Joined: Jun 2018 Reputation: 786 Details of the new Walksnail Avatar HD VRX have now been released. Details are in the following post... https://intofpv.com/t-walksnail-avatar-hd-vrx-module Posts: 858 Threads: 108 Likes Received: 106 in 83 posts Likes Given: 344 Joined: Nov 2019 Reputation: 3 Caddx has a really good deal on their site right now - Walksnail goggles with a HD Moblite for $630. Basically a $200 savings. I was on the fence as the goggles alone were a bit much but this swayed me. For anyone still running analog who have already decided to move to Walksnail then it might be a worthwhile deal for them. For a lot of people there will also be import duties & taxes plus handling charges to pay which then makes the deal far less attractive. Also keep in mind that anything bought from abroad won't be covered by your local consumer laws so if you have a problem, you will be at the mercy of the foreign vendor and you will also likely have to pay expensive return shipping costs if something is faulty or needs repairing a few months down the line. • Posts: 7 Threads: 1 Likes Received: 4 in 2 posts Likes Given: 1 Joined: Jan 2016 Reputation: 0 Since they've fixed most of the teething problems by now I've treated myself with the walksnail goggles. While I started RC flying with multirotors I am doing mostly fixed wing jets, helis and the like nowadays. This means the cameras will go into "planks" to start with. I put the 1st of the two cams I got into a very docile easygoing plane. A Hangar 9 Carbon Cub 15 cc. I did this before on an analog system. It's rather fun thanks to a guy designing a printed mount for the cockpit. I added a pic of how it looks. This new system presented me with an issue: These VTX get blisteringly hot showing temp warnings very soon (90+ deg C). Anyone else using these in non drone environments where no prop downwash does the cooling? Right now I am waiting for small fans to arrive before I head out. I printed a fan adapter and will actively cool it. Is this a must or is my VTX running way too hot for some reason? It does work (fantastically so). That cockpit is awesome! It really adds to the view from the cam. Vtx’s in general get quite hot- you definitely want good airflow over it. Fan, vents- especially in a closed cockpit. Dangerous operations. Disclaimer: I don’t know wtf I’m talking about. I wish I could get the smell of burnt electronics out of my nose. It will be interesting to see what others think but I put the following thoughts / comments of my own under the video. SnowLeopardFPV Wrote:Avatar clearly has a bit more definition when high up but that is to be expected with 1080p vs 720p. The overall dynamic range of DJI definitely looks better than Avatar to me, and Avatar is still exhibiting a smeary mess when flying close to the ground and other vegetation compared to DJI. Avatar does seem to be slowly improving things in the firmware, but they still have some way to go to match the overall image quality and stability of the original DJI FPV System IMO. As for any future comparison with the DJI O3 Air Unit I don't think Avatar would ever be able to match that with the hardware they are using. Latency is not so important for me. 1080p is just beautiful. I video of a flight with the Mars 1200 pusher plane. I didn't fly far away on this first test on this plane but it is equipped with a FrSky R9mx meaning I could later on. It'S not on the video but the Inav OSD works fine. I did not manage to get the crosshair and artificial horizon centered though. Anyone knows how it can be done? Right now it is offset to the right if i activate it. • Posts: 858 Threads: 108 Likes Received: 106 in 83 posts Likes Given: 344 Joined: Nov 2019 Reputation: 3 My goggles just arrived yesterday along with the Moblite 7 Walksnail edition. I have been ripping the hell out of it and am super happy with just about everything. And they fit great out of the box as well, something I can't say about my DJI Goggles 2. My main complaint is the fan. Seems like no matter what I have the switch set to, it's on full blast. Like, the DJI V2 goggles powering up loud.
