Hello all, I'm new in this forum and FPV quad also is my new hobby. Generally I've got experiences with RC flight. Furthermore I can fly a bit heli, but that was some time ago. I get along well with the simulator and directly started flying in the acro mode. Now I really would like to build my first own quad. Maybe some of you would like to help me?! At the moment this is my list: I already have a Spektrum DX6i What do you think about it? Is a DSHOOT1200 ESC maybe too overkilled for a beginner? Is the board even compatible with DShot1200? Which receiver can you recommend? Instead of using PPM i would like to use S.BUS Protokoll - or isn't it possible with a DSMX receiver? Furthermore, which glasses can you recommend? Please keep in mind that my budget is limited. I'm looking forward to your answers. Thank you. I am not sure your RX, I don't use Spektrum. I don't think they support SBUS which is only in Futaba or Frsky systems. But the Matek FC does support DSMX. The Aomway Commander has been a popular choice that is relatively cheap. Alternatively I would recommend the Fatshark Dom HDV3 with True-D V3.5 module it's quite pricey but it should be an ultimate FPV setup for now. (Lot cheaper than Spektrum brand satellites.) Here is a link to a pigtail with SMA connector i have been using: http://www.ebay.com/itm/IPX-IPEX-U-FL-to...hash=item0 The new matek VTX looks promising, but it costs a bit more: https://www.banggood.com/Matek-5_8G-40CH...mds=search Posts: 6 Threads: 1 Likes Received: 0 in 0 posts Likes Given: 11 Joined: Aug 2017 Reputation: 0 (06-Aug-2017, 12:58 PM)Oscar Wrote: For FC i recommend this one instead: https://www.banggood.com/de/Matek-System...mds=search you won't need extra PDB for it, and make stack lower The rest looks fine to me. I've already read your articles about the „Matek AIO“, regrettably it's out of stock at the moment at banggood. Alternatively i've thought about the „DYS F4 PRO V2“. Or would you prefer the "Matek AIO“? Then I would wait until it's available. With “support DSMX” you mean SPEKTRUM1024/ SPEKTRUM2048? I regretably cannot identify, if the receiver which sloscotty recommended to me supports this serial protocol. In the future I would also switch to the FrSky Taranis X9D Plus, but I still own the Spektrum. Aomway sounds good, but the Fatshark definitely busts my budget. Thank you sloscotty and oyvinla, I've customized my list. • Posts: 947 Threads: 66 Likes Received: 350 in 248 posts Likes Given: 164 Joined: Apr 2016 Reputation: 34 Check out this guy, he is testing different hardware with an oscilloscope to see how well they perform. He also got a youtube channel: http://dronemeshlab.com/review/ After seeing his tests I would rather go with a Matek F405 with the FCHUB-6S PDB than the DYS F4 since the Matek AIO is out of stock. Oh nice test. Thank u, this makes my decision much easier. Even of eachine there are nearly 10 different variations... i just choose the Eachine VTX03 because Oscar recommend it in this blog post and it's cheap. • Posts: 947 Threads: 66 Likes Received: 350 in 248 posts Likes Given: 164 Joined: Apr 2016 Reputation: 34 The VTX03 is quite small and works okay. The TX801 is also a good one, but keep in mind that all of these cheap transmitters (at least from my experience) have a tendency to spam the RF-spectrum and disturbing others you might fly with. Keep in mind when attaching to the FC, it will need to be powered with 3.3V (if there is a spektrum socket on-board the FC, that will be taken care of automatically - if not, you'll have to find the 3.3V pad - just ask if you run into problems). Hello all, Thanks for all your tips and ideas. The last days have been a bit stressful. I definitely think I will choose the Matek AIO and change to the Eachine TX801 VTX. The "spam" over the RF-spectrum isn't so bad for me, because I'm not going to fly with an other pilot at the beginning. (Don't know here anyone who's also interested in fpv flight.) Probably I'm going to upgrade my frame to the iFlight XL5 True. I hope, I will get a bit more quality by spending a little bit more money and it seems to look nice. Regretably I didn't find some reviews about this frame. Do you think, it will make sense to wait until the release of the Eachine EV100 goggle, or rather until Oscar publishes his review? Seems to be good goggle for a beginner. I really don't want to spend around 300 Euro at the start for a goggle. I don't have plan of reviewing it yet, so the quickest we can get it done is after Nov. Perhaps look at the commander instead? there are already quite a few reviews out there.. We've just received it as well just waiting for weekend and give it a go Posts: 20 Threads: 2 Likes Received: 5 in 4 posts Likes Given: 0 Joined: Jul 2017 Reputation: 0 • Posts: 1 Threads: 0 Likes Received: 0 in 0 posts Likes Given: 0 Joined: Aug 2017 Reputation: 0 Has anyone seen a review for or even a build using the iFlight XL5 frame? I'm looking everywhere and can't see it used at all. I love the way it looks. And is a good price. I just can't tell where one would route the vtx antenna. I'm looking to do my first build as well, using this frame. Where would you mount the vtx and run the antenna? • Posts: 2,286 Threads: 38 Likes Received: 1,527 in 995 posts Likes Given: 1,881 Joined: Apr 2016 Reputation: 72 (29-Aug-2017, 08:40 PM)emperorsgroove Wrote: Has anyone seen a review for or even a build using the iFlight XL5 frame? After installing the antenna, strap the VTX to the rear part of the upper frame by the SMA connector with two zip ties crossed over. If you use an antenna with a semi-flexible coax cable, you can bend the antenna upwards slightly to keep it out of the props. Something like this: It's not the same frame, but you get the idea. • |
