Monkey Rugz! Love it! The ones I'm using are made from TPU, whereas these are silicone. Interesting

Just mounted these on my noisy quad...
Remember when using these soft mounts for motors:
  • Don't tighten the motors all the way, leave some room for the damping to work
  • Must use loctite (blue glue for bolts) since screws are not tightened
  • Use all 4 screws per motor for better protection
Now just waiting for free time and dry weather Smile

Honestly these are not necessary now as digital filers work extremely well in Betaflight, and soft mounting your FC gives you similar result.
It's more important to make sure your frame is as rigid as possible.

I've got soft mounted motors on my 5" but in all honesty I don't think they're doing anything at all because of how tight I've done the motor mounting screws up Big Grin

People might want to watch from time point 1:02 in the video below Big Grin

there's not much to the frame. it's 3 pieces total. (acrobrat duo). I'm still learning how to tune (reading your blog has helped some). Also, still learning how to fly, so testing tuning is hard. thanks for the quick reply.

Despite all this, I still use soft mounts.  Even if it's just 0.5mm of TPU.  Regardless of how tight it is, you will still have a layer of not-as-stiff-as-carbon between the motor and the frame.  I have to think that must do something if not a little bit.  I guess I could just run a gyro_scaled with and without.  Hmmm.

i have some tpu-guards for my arms, is my motor softmounted now? (its to tight for sure)
what makes me wondering how softmount should work from one side, it should be soft from both sides?
i wont start to softmount motors, but could the sort of mounting on only one side could give any improvement? (for a past bf version)

Just thinking aloud, if it is effective, I would tend to think the vibration absorption would need to be occurring between the motor and the arm tip rather than the arm tip and the screws.

i tried some tpu, printed it...not sure it helped. I've got a thin sheet of rubber from amazon, and am going to make spacers. rubber is only .04" thick . I have a special punch setup coming tomorrow.

Soft mount motor is 10 FPV trends that should die according to JB.
