Mobula8 Jello
#16
Fpvgeten you got me thinking,

That video sample I put up, was done in good conditions, as far as jello was concerned, O.K. Yesterday presented itself with windy conditions, and at midday with super bright, quite windy conditions, let's fly and see what can be done with the video footage. Off to fly, very very windy, flew over the bush canopy, trees flapping everywhere, managed to fly though the canopy, then I hit something, and bounced around a bit, luckily I had "crash_recovery = on" enabled, I did see the skull pop up a bit with voltage as the "crash_recovery = on" but unfortunately it corrupted the VTX storage, I did try to record video on the VTX latter, but a lesson was learnt here, that is for the VTX to record video again I needed to reformat the onboard video storage, before the VTX is able to record video fortage again.

As I am not allowed to play with my toys all day, I did managed to get a flight recording done about 3pm while still quite windy and bright, about 3pm and checked out would I could do the with footage as with my own learning process.

There is some jello, but I am now colour grading better, and I have also learned how to fix that brighten and darkening effect that comes with FPV flying and video recording.

Note how the motors flicker a bit just after ARM and before flight when using 96kHz Bluejay, but once flying it's super smooth.

Nice I like the dancing trees. How did you fix the exposure, I don't think you can lock the exposure on the WS?

I didn't use fixed exposure, I used Davinci Resolve to fix the footage, with a "Resolve FX Color" tool "Color Stabilizer" on the color tab in Davinci Resolve.  I have the studio version, it's crazy good video editor.

I watched a Youtube Video about it, but I can't find the video.

Just coming back to this thread... I put a few layers of electrical insulation tape between the motor and the frame on the 2 motors that were causing the most vibration and this has helped a lot. I unscrewed the motor, stuck down 3-4 little squares of tape to build up a pad and then used a small screwdriver tip to poke holes in this for the mounting screws and end of the motor shaft. Then I remounted the motor and found most of the jello had gone away. It's not perfect, and I can still occasionally see some jello creep in on occasions but it has made much more of a difference than I'd have expected.

About Mobula8 jello. I have seen a couple comments out in the internet about a broken FC mounting post. That will cause jello if the FC, and the camera above it, can wiggle. I have a broken post on my Mob8. Some E6000 glue at the bottom seems to have fixed it, but I don't trust it. I plan to move the FC and motors to a toothpick frame.
