Meteor75pro not binding
#1
So I just bought my first BnF tiny whoop. I built a 5" before and have it working with ELRS on my Radiomaster boxer with a Ranger module.
My problem now is that i can't bind my Tiny whoop to my radio, nor flash a new elrs version onto it. I tried it via wifi but that somehow doesn't work, if I plug it in and try via UART, some errors appear. I'm kinda lost here, mabye someone here can help me? thanks in advance.

Binding will fail if the major ExpressLRS version on your transmitter is different to the version on the receiver (i.e. 2.x isn't compatible with 3.x).

For flashing over WiFi you need to leave the FC powered on for more than 60 seconds so that the ELRS receiver enters WiFi mode. Did you do that? When you say it's not working over WiFi, what error message are you getting? Likewise with trying to flash using serial passthrough via the USB connector on the FC. What error are you seeing when trying that?

You need to update the FC firmware. And specify passphrase. It is possible that the ELRS firmware versions in the transmitter and receiver do not match. When flashing firmware with passphrase, the binding procedure is not required. Naturally, if the passphrase matches the transmitter.

According to the BetaFPV product listing (HERE), the ELRS version of the Meteor75 Pro comes equipped with an F4 1S 5A AIO FC that utilises a serial (UART) based ExpressLRS receiver and not an SPI based one. So all of the firmware flashing and passphrase setting is done on the receiver itself with the ExpressLRS Configurator and not via Betaflight as with an SPI receiver. So there is no specific need to update the FC firmware. As long as the major ELRS firmware versions on both the module and receiver match, they should both just talk to each other without any issues.

Man, I just hopped into the ELSR world a few weeks ago.. I always used TBS CF for the last 5-6 years.
Myself I just got the NewBee drone Hummingbird F4 V3 and Mobula6 with ELRS 2.0.  Crap it took me few hours and googled around that  ELSR 2.0 on BF 4.3.1  it wont bind to my ELRS 3.0 RadionMaster Micro RX,  So I just need to flash to BF 4.4 which has the ELRS 3.0 built in.  I bind with BF configurator with the password phrase that I set up in the ESLR configurator.    Yea please upgrade to BF 4.4 1st if you haven't.

Ha. It’s been a year since I got involved in the topic of open source software for radio control. Before this, there were only proprietary radio control systems. But about an hour of studying the topic allowed me to flash the receiver without any problems. One through betaflight, the second through Wi-Fi. Then I consolidated my skills as an ardupilot.
Once upon a time there were two leading systems: Futaba and JR. They said about Futaba 9Z that it was programmed by a monkey. About JR, starting with the 9X system, they said that a monkey could program it. Now is the era of completely user-unfriendly systems. When beta testing is carried out at the expense of users. I partly agree. But. The same Radiomaster or Crossfire no longer cost very little money, but they are not user-friendly. I won’t even talk about setting up flight controllers through all types of configurators. I understand that this is for enthusiasts, but so many people don't get to enjoy their hobby because of things like this.

The Meteor75 Pro (and the Meteor65 Pro) both come with ELRS 2.  Since your transmitter is likely ELRS 3, you have to upgrade the firmware on both drones to ELRS 3. They both use serial Rx, so upgrading via Wifi is a good method--IF--you can build or find the correct firmware files.

I rant about this in another thread here.  This is absolutely crazy.
