fwiw, that DEERC H16E is fun! There was an additional clickable coupon lowering it to like $113. Like stuff that flies, mods/improvements are possible and planned. Decent value imo, gonna have to fpv it tho...
Is anyone on the forum doing ground based FPV stuff? |

Decent value imo, gonna have to fpv it tho... 07-Nov-2023, 03:56 PM It has been almost a year since I made this post. I have been doing some racing LOS, and at one track a guy had a Truggy set-up with FPV. He was offering people to try it around the track and I took him up on it. Huggy is correct, even once one was used to the different perspective I believe you will be slower than LOS. Mostly because your field of view is less as well as the perspective. But with that said, it put you right on the track like you were sitting in a race car, much like FPV does with flight. So, to do any kind of racing, all of the racers need to be FPV rather than a mix of LOS and FPV in the same race. Given the reception by those who tried the Truggy that day, I'm optimistic that FPV ground racing could become a thing around here. Time will tell. At this point I haven't committed to FPV ground enough to build a car to play with. I will likely do so in the future. Stay tuned. 11-Nov-2023, 10:18 PM I have not gotten around to it yet. But I want to fpv my rock crawlers. I’ve tried on my short course trucks but it was too bouncy to see very well. Just built this trailer in the past month. It was a fun build. 11-Nov-2023, 10:24 PM Toyota body for the same truck chassis. 12-Nov-2023, 11:14 PM I have always wanted to try this…. I had the tamiya mini fwd, a 4wd chassis I can’t remember the model as it was 25 is years ago….. I did get a hpi savage that was fun but would have been so much better if it was fpv…. I’m just starting a 7” drone build but I will definitely get something ground based for fpv…. Probably a big petrol 4x4 for the mountains…. I fancy seeing how far you could go….. 5km badge for ground based anyone fly high and free I put an O3 unit in my 4X4 Rustler VXL and got it running. Needed a heat sink and fan to prevent overheating (I get 7-9 min now before it overheats) - the camera is the only thing on the outside of the shell, but I can just swap shells to go from FPV to LOS easily. Some of my friends have RC vehicles now and are also doing FPV. We have been discussing FPV ground races Tried analog FPV but with all the jittering and shaking while driving, it's very disorienting. Digital video is less so, but still kinda disorienting. Any time I go full throttle I end up hitting something I never saw coming. Proud team pilot for brands I love: Dquad - Happymodel - Gemfan |
