I feel the need, the need for speed

You do know Top Gun 2 is coming out soon Smile

Anyway back to the topic.

How much is too much and specifically is there a formula to figure out what amps I will be drawing so I can get the right bits so it doesn't go bang straight away. I've been looking but it is starting to hurt my brain trying to figure out the numbers.

Note: I get my battery and ESC is going to hate me. Hate away hatey I reckon Smile

So what I am thinking is to get some big beefy high rpm motors, chuck on some really really aggressive props, hook that up to a high c rated 6s battery and have some fun.

Only looking at shorts bursts at full throttle (few seconds at most) and I have no real interest at making the fastest quad on the planet but I want something ridiculously fast just because I can. If I only get a couple of minutes of flight time going crazy I will be happy and if I can get 4 or so minutes of just fast cruising with the odd wooooohoooo moments I will be ecstatic.

My buy list is as follows

VIVAFPV 60A BL32 4IN1 DSHOT1200 3-6S ESC

Bonka 1300mAh 6S PSN 22.2V 150C
https://www.phaserfpv.com.au/collections...1300psn-6s

Going by the table each motor will draw about 52amps with the 5150 props at 100% throttle so it looks like it will work plus wont blow up the ESC straight away and I will also be sensiblish and let things cool down a bit between bursts.

Any help or advice on different components etc is much appreciated.

Your motor will not take 6S.

Ok so plans have been revised as basically I was dreaming. Did a lot of reading and I think I have it sussed out a bit.

What I have noticed is that my Tyro109 can handle 5s so I went out and got a small 5s LiPo and some Gemfan Hulkie 5055 props and i'll see what happens.

If the quad doesn't go up in a big burst of flames i'll get a better battery as this one was on special, $30, BUT its only 75c and 850mah and it is very light 124g so I reckon it's going to hate what I am about to do to it  Big Grin

This will be a filmed 4s vs 5s comparison video. The first on the 5055's and the second on 5047's.

It's the 5055 props that will probably be the killer on current draw. The Tyro109 ESCs are rated at a continuous 30A with a 40A burst. It might be worth looking on Mini Quad Test Bench at some motors with a similar spec to see what kind of current they draw on 5055 props.

Bit of a disastrous testing and playing with things day yesterday but one but that was totally awesome was putting a 5s battery on my Tyro109 Smile

OMG why did I not do this sooner lol. Little bit speechless. I just smiled the whole time. Completely different quad.

No idea whats going on with amps but I'm sure I will figure it out when I get a bit of time. I just clicked everything saying amps in the OSD menu *shrugs* Nope dumb results.

Anyway here is the last couple of minutes of the flight. The battery did pretty good considering it's only a 75c 850mah battery.

I'm going to get 1 of each of these and have some real fun. Well, when I get the amp meter going so I know what is going on Smile

A small update on my quest to go fast.

My poor little Tyro got stuck up in a tree (video posted in video's) from me doing dumb stuff and I ended up frying one of my esc's getting it out. Not one to let small setbacks win I have just purchased one that gives a steady 55 amp and 75amp burst output and figured whilst I am at it get some motors and batteries that will handle it.

I went with 2306's as I want the torque to be able to spin up the 5055 props fast.

Should be fun. Bit scary though as I could have bought 2 new Tyro109's for the price so will have basically built a quad which if it gets destroyed will really hurt.

Also as I have to completely pull apart the quad to fit this stuff I am now going to start adding 2mm gold plated bullet connectors to the esc wires so I can swap out motors easily.
