I have no clue what I’m doing haha, I’ve gotten the drone binded to the controller but it’s still unresponsive. I don’t really understand how to set up a model on my qx7 and would appreciate any help, thank you!! • Posts: 21,397 Threads: 593 Likes Received: 9,029 in 6,683 posts Likes Given: 1,428 Joined: Jun 2018 Reputation: 795 I assume you bought a Nazgul5 with the R-XSR receiver fitted. Can you please confirm that is the receiver you have. You say that your QX7 is bound to the receiver but you are also asking about setting up a model. If you don't have a model set up then you can't bind to the receiver on the Nazgul5. Did you actually set up a model on your QX7 and do you see a green LED illuminated on the receiver when the transmitter is switched on? • Posts: 20 Threads: 1 Likes Received: 0 in 0 posts Likes Given: 0 Joined: Aug 2020 Reputation: 0 I bought it with the xm+ receiver, somewhere online said Thats the one i should get with my controller(I should’ve done more research before making that decision). And I’ve made a model, but I’m 80% sure i didn’t do it the way i should have. I made the model(which is most likely wrong) and have the green light on the receiver solid when I have that model open on the controller • Posts: 21,397 Threads: 593 Likes Received: 9,029 in 6,683 posts Likes Given: 1,428 Joined: Jun 2018 Reputation: 795 If you're not sure if you set the model up correctly then I suggest you delete the model and do it again from scratch using the following video guide. Do that first and if you are still getting issues we can then try and help you with further troubleshooting. • Posts: 20 Threads: 1 Likes Received: 0 in 0 posts Likes Given: 0 Joined: Aug 2020 Reputation: 0 Ok yeah, so I did everything that he did in the video. One thing mine did differently than his is that it asks what type of model:plane, delta, or multi. I pick multi(assuming that is the right option) then it has me assign channels to throttle pitch yaw and roll. It goes up to channel 16, I don’t know which channels to select for each. • Posts: 21,397 Threads: 593 Likes Received: 9,029 in 6,683 posts Likes Given: 1,428 Joined: Jun 2018 Reputation: 795 What version of OpenTX is on your transmitter? Part of the model setup wizard should set up all 4 stick channels and at least one switch (for arming). I would just use that for now and try to get the stick channels working in Betaflight. We can worry about configuring and setting up additional switches later on. So are you now seeing stick movements in the Receiver tab of Betaflight Configurator? • Posts: 20 Threads: 1 Likes Received: 0 in 0 posts Likes Given: 0 Joined: Aug 2020 Reputation: 0 It’s Opentx-x7 version: 2.2.3(ae5ac05b) • Posts: 21,397 Threads: 593 Likes Received: 9,029 in 6,683 posts Likes Given: 1,428 Joined: Jun 2018 Reputation: 795 That is quite an old version of OpenTX (1.5 years old). I would advise that you upgrade your QX7 to the latest version of OpenTX which is currently 2.3.9. You can download and install that from the following link... https://www.open-tx.org/2020/06/14/opentx-2.3.9 See Oscar's guide for how to update OpenTX at the link below... https://oscarliang.com/flash-opentx-firmware-taranis Don't forget to also update the bootloader too which is important. That is mentioned at the bottom of Oscar's article. The OpenTX SD Card content for your QX7 is HERE. You will need the sdcard-128x64-2.3V0029.zip file for OpenTX 2.3.9. Just wipe the current content on your SD Card and copy the new contents from the ZIP file to it. Then set up your new model again. The new model wizard on that newest version includes the setup of an arming switch. • Posts: 20 Threads: 1 Likes Received: 0 in 0 posts Likes Given: 0 Joined: Aug 2020 Reputation: 0 Awesome, thank you so much I’ll let you know how it goes. Would this fix my problems and let me take control of the drone, or will I still need to get into beta flight and do some things there • Posts: 21,397 Threads: 593 Likes Received: 9,029 in 6,683 posts Likes Given: 1,428 Joined: Jun 2018 Reputation: 795 (24-Aug-2020, 03:44 PM)TypicalWhiteBoy Wrote: Would this fix my problems and let me take control of the drone, or will I still need to get into beta flight and do some things there Let's tackle one thing at a time Once you are on up-to-date versions of the firmware we have a better chance of getting things working instead of chasing our tails due to outdated or incompatible firmware. You may have to do some Betaflight configuration but don't start messing with that until you've set the transmitter up, and BEFORE you make any changes in Betaflight, run both the "dump" and "diff all" commands in the Betaflight Configurator CLI tab and save the contents of those somewhere safe on your computer. Then if you inadvertently manage to mess something up you will have a copy of the original settings that you can simply just restore again. • Posts: 219 Threads: 42 Likes Received: 74 in 60 posts Likes Given: 120 Joined: Aug 2020 Reputation: 2 Would I be correct in assuming that my FrSky X-lite will set up in the same way as the QX7 in the video? • Posts: 21,397 Threads: 593 Likes Received: 9,029 in 6,683 posts Likes Given: 1,428 Joined: Jun 2018 Reputation: 795 (25-Aug-2020, 12:40 AM)Sphere Wrote: Would I be correct in assuming that my FrSky X-lite will set up in the same way as the QX7 in the video? Yes. It's just a smaller screen on the X-Lite. • Posts: 20 Threads: 1 Likes Received: 0 in 0 posts Likes Given: 0 Joined: Aug 2020 Reputation: 0 Okok, so I updated my qx7, all is good.
