How "bad" are the Gaoneng 1100mah 60C HV?
#1
My 3" TP3 fleet never ceases to surprise me (RC1204, GEPRC1204, Apex1303.6).

Shorter battery cables. Lighter FC. Lighter camera. Lighter screws.
I picked up another 1min+ of flight time.
Gaoneng 550mah 4S (55g) from 9min to well over 10min now.

My ThumbPro arrive. Its only 15g, but then also wires, mount etc.
Was going to mount it on 4", but I got heavier cameras for that. 3" should be perfect.

So.. anybody try the Gaoneng 1100mah low-C rated HV packs on 3" toothpick?
Pretty sure any real freestyle will be out of the question. But, HV packs usually wear out fast.

Is that the purple label ones? If so, I've generally found them to be disappointing. Short life span (HV'd or not) and inconsistent/optimistic capacity ratings.
That said, I have an 850mah 2S (purple) and that gives me about 12 mins of flight time from my 3" toothpic, which I don't think is too shabby.

If you're going to try them, maybe just get 1 or 2 to begin with?

The Gaoneng (GNB) 3S 1100 mAh HV 60/120 C  is my standard
default battery. The new ones weigh 73 grams (I am still using some
of my older ones that are 50/100 C and weigh 67 grams). I use this
battery in just about everything from my stock 2.5 inch GEPRC Phantom
analog through my 5 inch builds including the Unsanctioned-1.

My Phantom flies for about 15-17 minutes on this battery. Most of my
other quads fly for about 10-15 minutes with this battery. I have never
had any issues with them and yes, I charge them up to 4.35 volts per
cell...and...I generally drain them in the air...like less than 3.5 volts if
the quad is still flying. I often fly until the battery gives out. Some might
say that I am pretty hard on batteries, but these ones have been solid for
me. I currently have a bunch of them. As they go bad {so far none have}
then I will replace with same. Yes, some of them are several years old.

Now for the qualifier: I like easy cruising at high altitude (350 feet Plus),
I like flying as long as the battery will last. I generally fly at 15 to 30 percent
throttle depending on the size of the quad. Plus,
I do NOT fly Acro, No fancy
stunts, NO power punches, and NO racing.

After lots and lots of use, testing and experimentation on makes, GAOENG (GNB) are my goto battery.

It will be a dark day in Hell before I again buy HobbyKing (all sorts) and GensAce. I do have some TATTU (gens ace) in use and they are OK, but the voltage sag at the end is more a plummet and IMO unacceptably poor.

I use GNB from 450mAh 1S up to 5000 6S.

In 1800mAh 4S alone I have in current use more than 15, used for aerobatic Freestyle. Usually 6-8 minutes duration. I heat them (ETHIX bag) if the ambient is less than 18C, in the winter around 10-12C ambient this adds two minutes run time.

They do not get coddled, I do not use storage charge on any of them other than the 650mAh 1S HV, and often land the 1550, 1800 4S and the 1350 6S with the 3.4v set alarm going.

Very satisfied user over several years since they first appeared in the UK.

Oh yeah, I hardly ever use "storage" charge and I often have a few that are charged
up and just sitting on the bench...just in case an opportunity arises. My batteries
have what ever charge whether from discharged during flight, full charged or
what ever charge they happen to have left. I tried that storage charge thing, but
it was always a Royal PITA. Sometimes I would forget. Yep, I really could care
less about battery maintenance. I use 'em, abuse 'em, and keep on using 'em
till they are all used up. Then toss and replace. By the way, I don't mark my
batteries and Definitely DO NOT keep track of how many charges they have been
through. For me, that is a total waste of time that I could better use elsewhere.

Most of my batteries are GNB regardless of the size. I have 1S, 2S, 3S, 4S, & 6S
ones. I have used them for years with great success. Now, we can toss around
the accuracy of manfacturer's ratings all day long, but for me, GNB's have are
the lightest battery per size of any that I have seen and they work Great for me.

I always use a sharpie pen to mark the date and year introduced, then cover with sellotape to seal. Useful to pick the newest if wanted and to see just how nlong they last, which was my problem with Gens Ace, the ink wasn't dry before they were failing!

I guess everyone has their own success and failur3e experiences with LiPos. I've been exclusively buying and using Tattu LiPos on anything larger than a 1S quad and I've never had any issues with them. Their R-Line range is expensive but they are top quality LiPos in my experience and it certainly looks like you get what you pay for. I have some 1S GNB LiPos for my 65mm whoop and they have also held up much better than alternative brand 1S LiPos.

I also go to the nth degree of keeping detailed records of all my LiPos (except the 1S ones which I treat as disposables) in a spreadsheet including cell voltage and internal cell resistance before and after every flight. Doing that may seem a bit excessive or an overkill but it means it will be easy to spot if anything of concern starts to change with any of them over time.

I keep track of battery information on each flight, but that is purely to follow
the flight charactistics of the quad rather than the battery. My focus is on getting
MAX Fly Time.

In my personal experience these batteries tend to inflate rather quickly. Also it feels like their capacity rating is a not to be taken seriously. If you just look at the alternatives, they are 20-30% lighter at the same capacity. If that would be possible, everyone would do that.
I do love the 2s650mAh version though… thin cables and a great form factor. Sadly here in Europe they are not available.
