Thank you illushinz, I'm over on the treasure coast. I know very little about 250 quads, but I'm here to learn. I'm looking for a decent first build guide. I'll Be building one here very soon.

Take a look here: http://intofpv.com/t-recommendation-for-...-beginners for a decent beginner build.

Also this http://intofpv.com/t-some-common-questio...pilots-ask for a list of common questions.

Welcome to the forum,
the beauty of this hobby is that you can use whatever you want Smile

question is do you want to build it from scratch or do you just want to fly Smile
All the best

Honestly my first quad was the Arris FPV250, and it was actually perfect! It was a BNF (Bind and Fly), but it was a "kit" so all the assembly was up to me. I learned so much!

I have rebuilt it a few times, and now have a ZMR250 in the fleet also (Thank you Oscar!!!) which I love.

I'm looking to build a quadcopter. I was looking into doing it from scratch. I want to get something that I can grow with. I don't want something that once I get to a certain level skill I need something's better . Is the arris something that I can grow with and modify ?

While the Arris was a good starting point for me, I probably wouldn't recommend it.  It is an easy build, like other 250 size x-frames, but the arms have holes throughout them, which proved an issue as I broke two of the arms in the first week.  [Image: H64BsXpqC3QNR72Y6][Image: Q1KpGGskXRYERU1R9]
Since then I also got a ZMR250 frame.  It's almost exactly the same size, but has a built in PCB board with LEDs, and the arms are solid, providing substantially more strength.  Also the ZMR frame is so ubiquitous that almost everybody has parts, mods, etc that are designed to fit perfectly.

There are a ton of resources on the ZMR250 builds on various forums and youtube, that would probably be my recommendation.

I really appreciate all the info you have provided me. I think I am going with the ZMR qav 250 kit.
I was reading that 20amp esc's are recommended. But all these kits come with 12amp. So I'm a little confused with this.

Keep reading, the confusion will slowly subside.
In general (very general) terms, the bigger the prop to motor ratio, the higher the amp draw (battery size has an effect also).
12 amp ESCs are probably more than enough for you, especially just starting. Go with 5040 or 5045 props on 2300kv motors and you'll be fine. If you want to go all DIY, no harm in 20a ESCs. My firsts were 12s, running 20 now, but just cause they were on sale.

I may end up going with 12 amp because I am going to buy ZMR 250 kit which comes with 12 Amp, and upgrade sometime down the line. I definitely have a lot more reading to do as I am learning a lot of stuff. What kind of FPV system are you using?

Awesome! Would you recommend the orangeRX over the spektrum rx?
