HDZero integrated goggles in the works
#31
I've not seen it mentioned anywhere else specifically but as well as the firmware being open source, the shell casing design is also apparently going to be open source so that people can use it as a base to design their own version and/or make modifications to the original as required...

Loads of people have needed to have the HDMI board on their HDO2's replaced, and some people more than once. So it's probably better to use anything other than HDO2's if using the external HDZero VRX module.

And I am not even aware of this issue. Confused
I hope mine is not from the late batch and will last till I get a good replacement.

Hopefully the final production HDzero goggle will have a  more integrated analog receiver bay.

The features plus the open source.. It addresses so many thinks that the community wants, hats off to Carl/HDZero for putting in the effort to make this.

To me this exemplifies the sort of ethos companies should have, its a win-win relation between customer and manufacturer..

I heard from HDZero and unfortunately no lens insert slots, but they did say they will try to add them.
Unless my insurance covers eye surgery I’m stuck using box type goggles and Orqa Pilots.
I see so good using Orqa my flying skills have gotten much better.

Tpu mount sometimes work but to get 46 FOV optics must be close to eyes so it’s a catch 22.

They look a bit more "boxy" than I was expecting but as long as they function and perform as intended then like with the DJI alien goggles it really doesn't matter what they look like when you're flying. The analogue module bay also looks like a bit of a clunky afterthought and very SKY030-ish, but it's better than having no analogue capabilities at all.

Wouldn't they need to be boxy to accommodate the rail on the front for antennas? It wouldn't work as well with a curved front.

I can't see any spec or mention about optic focus adjustment on the Hdzeo goggle. I had to sell my Kickstarter Orqa Fpv One due to the deletion of this feature (+ aweful fit on my face).

Yes, according to the specs in Carl's announcement. See the bullet points in another post HERE.

The red knobs/dials for IPD/Focus adjustment are visible in the static images I posted previously in this thread and the video of the goggle posted by Snow.

Yup, plus one to this issue. When trying out openhd found the hdmi port not working. Thankfully fs support is local here in Australia and i only had to send them to NSW. Support was good, prompt and communication was consistent. Took less than two weeks from sending off to receiving back with the hdmi board replaced and working.

I tested the HDMI port on my FS HDO2's when I first got them by hooking them up to my laptop and ensured everything worked. First thing I do with any product.

But the HDMI port is not designed very well on the FS goggles and let us not forget HDMI ports were not designed to be plugged in/out every time. Eventually they will fail similar to USB ports and SMA connectors.

So for the HDZero VRX module its best left attached to the goggles which is not something I like and this will be one of the main reasons why several people will be buying the HDZero goggles (no wires, no connectors, etc).

Crappy thing is the no support for 4:3 mode on HDO2. I was hoping someone would have fund a replacement HDMI board to fix this or get something done in the firmware. Skyzone 04X supports both 4:3 and 16:9.

Here are a few design tweaks to the HDZero goggles. All of the red is gone except the on/off switch and some of the corners have been made a bit more rounded / filleted. The IPD / focus adjustment knobs are also shorter.

As long as it fits face good,is light, has solid electronics, and does analog too I’ll be okay.
I hope they have enough room for lens in front of optics.
They can sell aftermarket different colored buttons/dials etc.. for extra revenue.

I just had a thought Thinking  How about an FPV cam mounted forward on the goggles that is
direct wired to a switch. So...when you switched to it you could see in front of you without
removing the goggles  Thinking
