I used to use a cheap Pro58 module (with Pirx firmware) and a 3d printed shroud. The fit was pretty bad and I cracked the little screen on the module trying to press it in. (The HDZero WIFI PCB is too near the top of the thing while there are 2mm of clearnace on the bottom). Recently I bought a proper Speedybee analog VRX module and the fit is even worse (while both my 3d printed one and the speedybee fit fine in my 3d printed enclosure - so its not the module's fault). Pictures attached. Am I just particularly unlucky with my hdzero, or did they design this $50 piece of plastic with a little PCB one has to buy to use an analog module very badly? I'm seriously dissapointed with the quality of this part. If it cost a fiverr I wouldn't care, but this thing is $50+ here in the EU and it doesn't fit. Does anyone know of a 3d printed model replacement plastic part that would actually fit normal modules? • Posts: 6,112 Threads: 172 Likes Received: 2,286 in 1,833 posts Likes Given: 4,736 Joined: Feb 2019 Reputation: 100 i didnt like the module bay design and quality either when i mounted it on my buddies hdzero. a bit sad such a part when the rest of the goggle is high end and good value for money. • Posts: 411 Threads: 51 Likes Received: 153 in 109 posts Likes Given: 264 Joined: Apr 2023 Reputation: 11 I use the analog module without the bay. I did a good visual inspection of my module itself.. the stacked boards were not aligned properly when soldered together.. so my module has a bit of a “twist” and doesn’t fit exactly.. as i tries to fit it, I damaged the screen.. I only have half the pixels to view.. • Posts: 2,358 Threads: 118 Likes Received: 812 in 659 posts Likes Given: 128 Joined: Feb 2021 Reputation: 20 (13-Feb-2024, 01:02 PM)FPVme Wrote: I use the analog module without the bay. You still need the board from the module(case) to make the connection to the goggles…the way u described it you just plugged your module directly into the goggles..that’s why I asked for a pic.. My module itself clips on and off without issue.. • Posts: 411 Threads: 51 Likes Received: 153 in 109 posts Likes Given: 264 Joined: Apr 2023 Reputation: 11 (13-Feb-2024, 08:33 PM)Rob Axel Wrote: You still need the board from the module(case) to make the connection to the goggles…the way u described it you just plugged your module directly into the goggles..that’s why I asked for a pic.. This connection 'method' is just more stable for me and never disconnects. • Posts: 2,358 Threads: 118 Likes Received: 812 in 659 posts Likes Given: 128 Joined: Feb 2021 Reputation: 20 .. kinda makes sense.. I’m gonna have to look at this closer.. thansk • Posts: 44 Threads: 8 Likes Received: 8 in 7 posts Likes Given: 6 Joined: Jun 2022 Reputation: 0 (13-Feb-2024, 06:15 PM)FPVme Wrote: Am I missing something here? This picture is with no analog adapter enclosure. How can it show the fit, without the thing we're trying to fit into :-) Unless that's how you fly, with some insulation tape wrapped around it... In that case carry on... I've been pretty annoyed with HDzero the cover doesn't fit so I started this thread to ask if it fits any of the analog modules. If there is at least one analog VRX it fits correctly, with its cover, out of the box, that's fine. If not, that is very dissapointing considering it costs $66 currently here. Yes, we're getting the wifi functionality too, but lets be honest, no one buys that adapter for the Wifi (and a $1 esp32 chip hardly justifies such a price). I've been designing my own cover that would fit onto this piece od plastic. I'm on iteration 5 counting previous prints. I went down the path of designing my own cover rather than the adapter to match the original cover, because I found some blank cover models online. If I had a blank box-like enclosure that fits the speedybee module I'd design the other part instead (the part that goes onto the goggles). Anyway, here's the trash produced so far (It always takes many iterations to get something like this correct without a 3d scanner): • Posts: 411 Threads: 51 Likes Received: 153 in 109 posts Likes Given: 264 Joined: Apr 2023 Reputation: 11 This is how I fly analog. No case around the pcb or analog module. After having the system for almost a year this has proven to be the easiest and most reliable way to use this equipment for me. • Posts: 21,267 Threads: 587 Likes Received: 8,970 in 6,638 posts Likes Given: 1,425 Joined: Jun 2018 Reputation: 788 14-Feb-2024, 03:06 PM (This post was last modified: 14-Feb-2024, 03:06 PM by SnowLeopardFPV. Edit Reason: Corrected formatting. ) For reference, I can confirm that the TBS Fusion module cover has the same gaps on either end of the HDZero Goggle module bay as the SpeedyBee cover, but there are no vent holes in the Fusion module cover so those gaps are going to aid with air circulation / cooling of the module. With the Fusion cover being black, the gaps don't actually look as obvious as they do with the SpeedyBee cover. • Posts: 286 Threads: 25 Likes Received: 140 in 109 posts Likes Given: 92 Joined: May 2023 Reputation: 3 Would this work? Its hard to tell looking at videos. However, regarding myself I settled on this version. I'm pretty happy with it. • |
