It seems like the alternatives are the Foxeer Box (getting close to Session quality), the Polaroid Cube (cheap but a bit meh), going with some shonky action cam from Banggood or waiting to see if Runcam dusts off the Runcam 3. The Gopro Hero is too rich for my blood - especially given my propensity for smacking into the ground upside down at 30kph. Or are there other options I'm not thinking of? • Posts: 373 Threads: 29 Likes Received: 279 in 168 posts Likes Given: 242 Joined: Nov 2017 Reputation: 6 Don't even consider the Polaroid. I tried 2 of them and they are horrible. I've seen a few of the cheap below $50 cameras tested and they seemed to work ok and would be no great loss if broken or lost. I might go that route when Sessions are no longer available. • Posts: 21,358 Threads: 592 Likes Received: 9,018 in 6,675 posts Likes Given: 1,428 Joined: Jun 2018 Reputation: 793 13-Jul-2018, 01:30 PM (This post was last modified: 13-Jul-2018, 01:30 PM by SnowLeopardFPV.) I guess it depends what type of quality you are looking for but as a starting camera you can do a lot worse than the Hawkeye Firefly which gets some fairly good reviews from the well known reviewers on YouTube. The only downsides are that there is no 4K (it's 1080p max only) and it only has a max of frame rate of 30fps. Available on Banggood for less that £20 and you get another 7% off (~£1.40) if you use the coupon code "toyho". They're tiny and only weight around 14 grams IIRC. It's obviously no GoPro but for that price it's pretty good value for money. https://www.banggood.com/Hawkeye-Firefly...rehouse=CN • Posts: 3,533 Threads: 265 Likes Received: 2,610 in 1,545 posts Likes Given: 3,893 Joined: Feb 2018 Reputation: 78 If you want a more direct replacement for the Session, the Foxeer Box gets decent reviews. It's not a Session, but it's half the price and does very well. • Posts: 2,416 Threads: 51 Likes Received: 1,861 in 1,175 posts Likes Given: 3,315 Joined: Mar 2016 Reputation: 74 Different form factor, but the Mobius Mini is very nice for the price and only 27 grams. I have two of them (both the 110 and 135 FOV). • Posts: 1,013 Threads: 11 Likes Received: 452 in 349 posts Likes Given: 372 Joined: Dec 2017 Reputation: 16 (13-Jul-2018, 01:14 PM)Hypurr Wrote: Don't even consider the Polaroid. I heard the original Cube was pretty good but the "upgraded" Cube plus version was the bad one. • Posts: 12,098 Threads: 125 Likes Received: 3,739 in 2,836 posts Likes Given: 99 Joined: Feb 2017 Reputation: 388 You can still buy session 4 or session 5. With price drop, they are still the best camera on the market. • Posts: 1,312 Threads: 50 Likes Received: 832 in 504 posts Likes Given: 372 Joined: Jul 2018 Reputation: 51 Thanks for the advice, all. Foxeer Box looks to be the front-runner for me at the moment, but I'm going to sit tight for now and see if anything else comes out. Rumours abound that Runcam is working on something in this area at the moment! • Posts: 12,098 Threads: 125 Likes Received: 3,739 in 2,836 posts Likes Given: 99 Joined: Feb 2017 Reputation: 388 16-Jul-2018, 08:13 PM (This post was last modified: 16-Jul-2018, 08:14 PM by voodoo614.) Don't even get me started on Runcam 3 that was discontinued shortly after release. I would stay far away initially until they can prove reliability. Another member also had problems with their Runcam 2. My gopro session has been through a few good crashes and still works. At $199 from Amazon or B&H photo, I buy it any day over $170 Foxeer. http://intofpv.com/t-runcam-3-issues?pid=27451#pid27451 http://intofpv.com/t-runcam2-shuts-down • Posts: 1,773 Threads: 30 Likes Received: 1,199 in 755 posts Likes Given: 714 Joined: Oct 2016 Reputation: 45 (16-Jul-2018, 08:13 PM)voodoo614 Wrote: Don't even get me started on Runcam 3 that was discontinued shortly after release. Is the website reliable? • Posts: 117 Threads: 3 Likes Received: 89 in 63 posts Likes Given: 111 Joined: Jun 2017 Reputation: 4 According to a search. The artscraftzone website , with the cheap GoPro session linked above, is just 6 days old. Bummer I would have bought one for that price. https://www.scamadviser.com/is-artscraft...-site.html • Posts: 12,098 Threads: 125 Likes Received: 3,739 in 2,836 posts Likes Given: 99 Joined: Feb 2017 Reputation: 388 I am going to take a a risk.
