Going even smaller, 65mm build on WS 1s vtx lite kit.

I'll put this post together more later tonight, dad duties first...

But here's a bit of fun with leds, running off the 3.3V pad on the jhemcu gsf405a whoop board.

Going to try and wrap it around the front ducts... Tongue

Glad to see you got that wonderboard too Smile
Is that the MPU or BMI verison? I still haven't built mine up yet, couldn't figure out what 2S motors to pair with the 5A ESCs.

If you have some other color leds besides blue, you might be able to run them off the 3.3v, don't know if that would amount to any power savings.

This is the BMI version.  I bought this aio for like $85AUD first time around (a year ago almost) now it's BMI and less than $50AUD  Cool

Gluing flexible (read rubber) led strips to whoop frames suck.

Dangerous operations.

I know I don't like to see blue lights when I'm flying down the road . . . wonder what the other quads are gonna think . . . 8^}

well 65mm for a digital whoop is pushing it a bit.  For the weight and the hot motors, well BadRaven was right, 1:30 I get in flight time.

Got to take it to the a parking lot at night and do some largish power loops, lol...

Nice! That thing lights up really good. Nice that WS 1s lite is comparable to HDZ lite kit as far as weight goes. The video quality is so nice on WS.

How do you like those goggles? I'm debating on getting them since they are cheap now. I do have hdzero goggles with walksnail vrx but it's cumbersome to deal with all the cables.

Thanks guys, was a pain to put together, these small builds are a killer, lol...

I think the 65mm footprint is a bit hardcore for digital, just too heavy.  I found the motors pretty hot and only bi-blades would give it a runtime of 1:30 approx.   The alternative is lower rpm motors that aren't as hot and then tri or quad blades.

Interesting note, the flexible led strip really created an unstable 3.3V rail and the quad would shutdown, restart and do weird things.  I think it was giving the MCU a headache with the unstable 3.3V supply.   Maybe a small resistor (say 470Ohm) would limit the current consumption and provide a more stable 3.3V rail for the MCU.

In the end I've pulled this one apart do (maybe) revisit at another stage with lower rpm motors and maybe when the variable pwm blejay goes into production.
