Geprc Crown HD shaky video
#1
Just bought a new Geprc 3" Crown HD.  Flew few times and noticed motors are so hot after a few minutes flight that you cannot touch them.  Contacted Geprc and was told this is "NORMAL"...I find this very hard to believe.  Soon after video became shaky.  While hovering the motors will randomly change speed and jerk quad.  It will not hover smooth.  None of the screws are touching wires inside motor, props are new and tight, Nothing is on top of gyro.  Im at a loss.  Does this sound like a motor problem, esc problem or pid tuning problem?

thanks

If motors are tight and so is the frame then it could be a hot pid tune. Did you try changing the pids or filters?

Go back to factory defaults or Betaflight defaults to see if that helps with the hot motors.

You can get the factory cli dump from here: https://geprc.com/downloads/crown/

Sounds like something is off to me. I don't own this model, but my quads' motors feel a little warm(above body temp) after ripping a few packs back-to-back. But they never feel "hot", more like the top of a computer or cable-box kind of warm.

Since you can always go back to the GepRC tune via the link kafie just posted, I would personally try the Betaflight defaults and go from there.

I would either reset it all back to stock BetaFlight, or go to the Filters page in BetaFlight and make sure none of the filters are tuned down into the red section on the sliders. I would put it all to the normal middle position. Then I would check the PIDs, and use the sliders to put those all to the stock middle position. Then try a short flight and see if that helps. That should at least help tell you if the problem is hardware or tune.

Not sure if it will help, but moving all the sliders back to their stock Betaflight middle position would probably be my first test. Fly for a little and land and check motor temps to see if it helped.

I tried all of this and still hot and shaky camera.  That is unless im not restoring factory settings right.  I reflashed version 4.6.2 of Betaflight onto it and copied and loaded original file from Geprc back to it.  That was the part I wasnt quite sure about.  Didnt know if i was somehow supposed to erase everything in the CLI first since I couldn't find anywhere how to do that.  So I just loaded the Geprc file after flashing.  All of the sliders are in middle and at default.

i would check all things could could cause vibrations, a lot of noise in the system will result in a crazy task can cause hot motors.
check for any difference in stiffness of the frame, retighten all the screws, check for any loosen part...

I had already tried all of that.  One of the motors felt rougher when turning by hand last week but feels the same now.  It could be a bad motor but I have no idea how to check each motor to see which one could be bad.

By the way when I speak of the video being "jerky" I dont mean jello. Its like the whole frame just suddenly shifts randomly.
