FrSky Taranis X-Lite Pro - "Click" at middle throttle left stick
#1
Hi everyone,
I've recently boght a Taranis X-Lite Pro, which requires to insert a little screw inside the back of the radio in order to loosen the spring of the left stick in order to turn it into a "mode 2" (the radio comes with both auto-centered stick).

I've followed the instructions in the user manual; the operation I'm talking about is shown here at 02:00:

The problem is that, at exactly middle throttle, when I try to lower the throttle I feel a little "click" with a small resistance that can sometimes reduce the accuracy of the throttle management.

Do you know if it's a "normal" beahviour of the radio and I only have to get used to it, or if I did something wrong in the left stick screws setup?

Thanks in advice.

You should not feel a click and it should be smooth all the way.

I have not done this since only when I first bought the radio but kinda remember the process.

Did you drive the screw too far in? You only need to get it in gradually and keep feeling the throttle stick till if feels loose enough to your liking.

If you drive it in too far you might damage the internal spring tension assembly.

I would suggest you back out the screw and start again a couple of turns at a time and then fine adjust quarter turns.

It is not too far in.. I've tried to extract the left screw (spring screw) a bit and I still feel the click, even in the "default" configuration (max spring tension)

If you have the skills then I would suggest you open up the radio to have a look at the gimbals. Perhaps its just an alignment of the mechanism inside.

If this is beyond your ability or you ate unable to spot the issue and this has been happening since you received the radio then best you ask for a replacement from the vendor.

Shipping times from Banggood are already infinite, I don't wanna imagine replacement times... I would prefer to avid this.
Yes, it has been happening since I received the radio. Do you think it will be too risky to open it up?

This is why I suggest people place their expensive purchases through a local vendor especially for Goggles and Transmitters for easy/quicker/cheaper returns/replacements.

Your Pro version was claimed to have precision cnc machined gimbals which should have a much better smooth/feel compared to my S version.

Basically its removing the 4 screws and prying open the case carefully but you are going to end up with some scuffs during the prying process.

Drone Mesh kinda walks through the process in a video he posted about the battery mod:

Or just keep using it, maybe it becomes better over time Smile
