FPV goggles antenna
#1
Hello,
I'm looking for advice before I start, before I mess something up. I couldn't find much on the internet.
But the point is that the polarizing antenna on my FatShark attitude v5 glasses has gone and I have 2 TBS triump pro antennas at home, both RHCP. I have 13cm on the copter and my question is if my second 9cm antenna would work for the glasses or is it only for transmitting the signal. If so, what would be the disadvantages. I don't know much about those antennas yet. Thanks for advice

Hey there!

Using your 9cm TBS Triumph Pro antenna with your FatShark Attitude V5 goggles should work, as both are RHCP and generally compatible. The difference in length might slightly affect performance, but it's worth a try.

One thing to keep in mind is that while the 9cm antenna should technically work with your goggles, there might be a slight trade-off in terms of range or signal clarity if it's not perfectly tuned to your system's frequency. However, this difference is often minimal for casual flying and might not be noticeable.

Also, it's always a good idea to ensure that the connectors on the antennas match with your equipment. Mismatched connectors can lead to poor performance or even damage to your gear.

Check out this article about FPV antennas, how they work, choosing the right type, and understanding polarization. It's quite insightful and might help you understand the nuances better.

Best of Luck // Jim

The antenna polarity you use on goggle receiver must match the vtx polarity for optimal performance.

For example if you use right hand Omni on goggles then be sure to use a right hand Omni on the vtx.
TBS Triumph Omni are a great choice for goggles and/or quad.
Im assuming since you are saying the antenna is 13cm long that it is a linear antenna.
What quad are you flying and is it a linear antenna on the vtx (straight antenna with no knob on the end)?

You can use right handed Omnidirectional on goggles and a linear on the quad.
