Located on Steampowered.com. Anyway, for more info, see the video. Reason I'm posting this is, obviously, sim's help us all practice whether we are new to FPV or are learning new moves. I, personally bought this cheap sim (even though I have been using, and will continue to use, Velocidrone). I have flown this FPV Air 2 sim. For the price, I think it is well worth it. Good physics and features modeling realistic flight. Just passing on some info I thought others could benefit from. Anyone else try it out yet? Opinions? I still need to get a sim and I have Velocidrone on my "to buy" list, however this one looks like it might be well worth a try for $5. But for the price (I just couldn't wait for the freee giveaway!), I had to try out FPV Air 2. Granted, I have only flown the "figure 8 through 2 gates" beginner track, but I am impressed with the physics of it. To me, it flies like a real quad (not too "floaty"). And, what I noticed right away, was the ease of set-up and operation of it (its not too complex--which is great for ME!). Simple, fun, helpful, inexpensive. Works for me! Yes, that's why I was going to get Velocidrone. It gets really good reviews about all the stuff you mentioned, especially how close the physics are supposed to be to a real quad compared to a lot of the other sims, but obviously it's also the most expensive. I think trying FPV Air 2 is probably a no brainer for $5 and it helps support the developer who apparently developed it as a one man band which is pretty impressive based on what I saw in Stew's review. I'm not a gamer though so I'll have to work out how the Steam stuff all works but I'm sure it's not rocket science • Posts: 71 Threads: 19 Likes Received: 39 in 25 posts Likes Given: 32 Joined: Mar 2018 Reputation: 4 (21-Aug-2018, 09:51 PM)SnowLeopardFPV Wrote: Yes, that's why I was going to get Velocidrone. I'm no "gamer" either--not of that generation. However, I have a son who is, so . . . I now have FPV Air 2! If I can do it, anyone can. Good luck and enjoy • Posts: 1,013 Threads: 11 Likes Received: 452 in 349 posts Likes Given: 372 Joined: Dec 2017 Reputation: 16 For less than 5 bucks decided to give it a try. I'm not a fan of the fact you need to also install Steam, and log into Steam everytime you want to play the game. I wonder if it can be run stand alone? Anyway, have to figure out all the adjustments as it doesn't quite feel as locked in as either of my quads but it is flyable. One thing I wasn't expecting was man do I get motion sick playing it, something that doesn't happen when I'm really flying. • Posts: 71 Threads: 19 Likes Received: 39 in 25 posts Likes Given: 32 Joined: Mar 2018 Reputation: 4 (22-Aug-2018, 03:18 PM)Sugs Wrote: For less than 5 bucks decided to give it a try. After I purchased and installed FPV Air, I created an Icon for it (FPV Air) on my desktop. Now, when I click on the Icon it goes directly into the FPV Air Sim (i.e. it does not prompt to to log into Steam at all). I do not know how that happens, I just know that it does so I don't have to go through that extra step, so its like I don't even notice its a Steam app it just comes up on its own now. I hope maybe that helps you out? • Posts: 1,013 Threads: 11 Likes Received: 452 in 349 posts Likes Given: 372 Joined: Dec 2017 Reputation: 16 Is the Steam icon in your Windows system tray? What is the "Windows System Tray" that you are referring to? • Posts: 71 Threads: 19 Likes Received: 39 in 25 posts Likes Given: 32 Joined: Mar 2018 Reputation: 4 (22-Aug-2018, 04:38 PM)TMac Wrote: What is the "Windows System Tray" that you are referring to? ok, then I believe the answer is "Yes." When I clicked on my Steam icon, it did not ask me to log in, I was already "logged in." so I Logged Out of Steam. Then, I clicked on FPV Air and it went to the Steam log in like you originally had posted. So, yes, I now see what you were talking about. That could be annoying if you don't always have Steam running in the background. I didn't even know that I did! • Posts: 1,013 Threads: 11 Likes Received: 452 in 349 posts Likes Given: 372 Joined: Dec 2017 Reputation: 16 (22-Aug-2018, 04:38 PM)TMac Wrote: What is the "Windows System Tray" that you are referring to? On the far right of your toolbar(if your toolbar is on the bottom of your screen) is a little up arrow. It shows all the things your computer is running in the background. Of course, you'll want to pick up the DLC (extra tracks), so take that into consideration. It's a bit sluggier than FPV Freerider on integrated graphics, but it looks and flies really quite good (plus the "FPV stream" is a bit more realistic). Comes with controller profiles built-in, just plug and play basically. "I've learned something today." I was unaware of the DLC (extra tracks) as I'm still focused on "Beginner Practice" figure-8 track--so thanks for that info! I'll have to check them out. I love the built-in controller profiles and "plug n play" ability. I went back to my LiftOff sim yesterday (which I have not used in a while) just to compare. For my computer (not a gaming computer), Liftoff takes a LONG time to load. then, once it has loaded, even though I turn the graphics way down, the performance of Liftofff on my computer is sluggish and not realistic. For me and my computer set-up, for a full-featured, track-building, realistic experience I will continue with Velocidrone. For an inexpensive quick, realistic practice session I will go with FPV Air 2. May just swap back and forth between the two to keep my interest peaked!
