Flywoo Explorer vs Mobula7 VTX range
#1
The video signal is lost on my Flywoo explorer when I try to fly around the outside of my house. Upgraded my antennas from the stock FatShark Attitude V6 patch antennas with "ImmersionRC SpiroNET v2 5.8GHz RHCP Diversity Bundle", but I still could not make it around my house. This is with the VTX set for 600mW and trying multiple channels. Figured my receiver would need to be upgraded to Rapidfire to get around the house.

Bought a mobula 7 recently and was worried only having 25mW VTX would limit my range. They should call it a Mobula 7 LR! With the mobula 7 on the same channel I am able to rip around the outside of my house without any video loss standing in the same location.

Does it sound like my Explorer has a problem?

Side note: this is the second VTX with the same issue, I blew up my first one when I tried to add a mic incorrectly.
Thanks,
ED

surely there is something wrong with your explorer LR. I have one and I routinely do 2km+ with perfect video.

At first glance I would double check the drone antenna lead cable to the VTX, and that the VTX led show the same channel and power than BF.

The antenna is connected well, but I will try a different one to see if that helps.

The Flywoo antennas are delicate. I had a broken signal at the connection at the mmcx connector end.

Some have reported the wrong polarity i.e. a RHCP antenna labeled as LHCP. I think even RCShim did a video on it.

I would suggest you test another antenna first even a cheap whip dipole antenna should give more range than what you are seeing.

I assuming you are using the correct vtx tables and the leds indicate the correct power levels.

Verified the VTX tables and setup a switch on my TX16S to change the power levels and confirmed with the LEDs.

I have a dipole antenna that I plan on using once the rain stops here.

Will check out that video from RCShim.
Thanks,

This is the video RCSchim had posted about the Flywoo antenna mix up:

That is blatantly false advertising from Flywoo. There is NO WAY that is an accident. I would demand a new LHCP antenna from Flywoo. I would also file a complaint with BBB so that it is on record, and they can warn others of Flywoo's practices. But I get that most don't bother with such things.

Put a small dipole antenna on and can fly around the outside now. The stock Flywoo antenna rattles when I shake it.

Excuse to make an order and add extra parts for free shopping
Thanks,
