My transmitter has a "range test" mode where you are supposed to walk "30 paces" (~90') away from the plane/drone and push the button. The "power will be reduced" and then you can try to operate it and view the details in the goggles. Not sure what the power output is at that point.
On Monday when I did this it went down to 15 and 5... at least now its 50!
I'll try flying it without an expensive gopro on it for a while as I build up confidence the range is decent and it's not my transmitter that is a problem.
