ESC - only first three beeps
#1
finally got my cinewhoop together and I'm having a weird issue:

1. FC and ESC are both fully setup and flashed with newest firmware
2. ESC only fully arms with USB cable plugged into it; getting first three beeps with lipo only
3. I checked and the receiver is fully powered on and I can move the bars in EMuflight showing the receiver is powered and correctly setup
4. I can spin the motors in the emuflight motors tab with lipo connected

Edit: additionally, I notice my betaflight elements DO NOT show up in my DJI goggles unless I plug both the lipo and the USB cable into the flight controller.

I can't for the life of me figure out whats wrong -- any help is appreciated. I generally have been able to figure out other things, but I can't for the life of me figure this one out

What betaflight version came on the fc and the esc? You may have updated with say bi-directional d-shot enabled..
I discovered rhis by chance when I installed a fc w/ oldee firmwaare and the esc had been updated.

I'm sorry to have to tell you that all the symptoms you describe mean you have a dead / fried 5V regulator on the FC board.

So I tried a trick I saw on YouTube ...I used a matek BEC to backfeed 5v to a 5v pad on the FC and it worked !!!! Wooow

Yes, voltage injection is a fix for the issue. What you do need to be careful of is that the original fried 5V regulator hasn't short circuited the 5V rail to GND. If it has then you first need to locate and remove the fried 5V regulator chip from the FC before you inject voltage from an external source. In this particular case it sounds like you've been lucky with that.
