103 its the wrong question, why you shouldnt use crossfire on a whoop?
there is no downside, if you can efford the bucks you will get more possibilities about range and latency.
i wouldnt feel alot from crossfire as i fly whoops very shortrange and without need to win a race... but as the crossfire version is 10bucks difference sometimes, i would choose crossfire.
as example i could build a whoopish-tiny-wing with crossfire in the future, out of a 3in1ecs if one burnt out...

796 I'm not sure I would want to take a whoop out much further than short range because they are so small that they are easy to lose in a crash. The short range restriction of the built in receivers means you condition yourself to keep it close by. I crashed my UK65 into the top of a thick hedge yesterday and it was impossible to see. If it wasn't for having a proper buzzer (which I fitted myself because they don't come with one) then I think would have struggled to locate it. And that was at close range.
Maybe if you are racing these properly outside in a large area and you want the reliability of the decent connection offered by Crossfire rather than its long range capabilities, then maybe a Crossfire receiver makes sense, but otherwise I don't really see the point. Also, an external receiver just adds extra weight to something you need to try and keep as light as possible. I think I'd rather use any excess weight capabilities by fitting a proper buzzer than an external receiver.
The difference between the built in FrSky SPI receiver and the Crossfire receiver is almost $30. You can now get the Crossfire Nano RX for $25 so I would buy the FrSky SPI receiver UZ65 and if you decide you want better or a more reliable RC link then just fit a Crossfire Nano RX yourself for slightly less money later on.
Just my own opinion and my 2 cents worth.
