Eachine UZ65mm whoop
#1
Does anybody have some thoughts about this whoop? I can't remember seeing it anywhere and I didn't find any review of that whoop? I really like option with CF on it but is that overkill and do I really need CF on whoop?

I posted about the Eachine UZ65 back in February HERE when it was due for release, but COVID-19 halted manufacturing so it got delayed indefinitely. It was still on pre-order until about a week or so ago but it is now showing as being available to purchase. However, be aware that the processing time on Banggood is showing as 42 business days (so 6 weeks in real time) before they even look at the order details, which based on past experience of long processing times basically means they have no stock and have no idea when they are getting some. It is guaranteed that time will be longer than 42 days, and then it is 20-35 days shipping after that. So if you part with your money (which they will take from your card immediately), don't expect to get one much before the end of Summer. This is why you haven't seen any reviews, because no-one has one, not even the reviewers.

EDIT: The processing time on Banggood is now showing as 1-3 days. so you could in theory have one in 3-4 weeks.

Looks like I spoke too soon Big Grin

Albert Kim's review of the Eachine UZ65 has just dropped. I put a link in the following thread...

its the wrong question, why you shouldnt use crossfire on a whoop?
there is no downside, if you can efford the bucks you will get more possibilities about range and latency.
i wouldnt feel alot from crossfire as i fly whoops very shortrange and without need to win a race... but as the crossfire version is 10bucks difference sometimes, i would choose crossfire.
as example i could build a whoopish-tiny-wing with crossfire in the future, out of a 3in1ecs if one burnt out...

I'm not sure I would want to take a whoop out much further than short range because they are so small that they are easy to lose in a crash. The short range restriction of the built in receivers means you condition yourself to keep it close by. I crashed my UK65 into the top of a thick hedge yesterday and it was impossible to see. If it wasn't for having a proper buzzer (which I fitted myself because they don't come with one) then I think would have struggled to locate it. And that was at close range.

Maybe if you are racing these properly outside in a large area and you want the reliability of the decent connection offered by Crossfire rather than its long range capabilities, then maybe a Crossfire receiver makes sense, but otherwise I don't really see the point. Also, an external receiver just adds extra weight to something you need to try and keep as light as possible. I think I'd rather use any excess weight capabilities by fitting a proper buzzer than an external receiver.

The difference between the built in FrSky SPI receiver and the Crossfire receiver is almost $30. You can now get the Crossfire Nano RX for $25 so I would buy the FrSky SPI receiver UZ65 and if you decide you want better or a more reliable RC link then just fit a Crossfire Nano RX yourself for slightly less money later on.

Just my own opinion and my 2 cents worth.
