For a new flyer with experience flying small things like a Hubsan, would the Eachine Falcon 250 be a good first racing quad?
Eachine Falcon 250, good or bad? |

Yeah sure if your your unsure whether your going to proceed with the hobby. I mean a Taranis radio cost about what that entire setup does, but if you know your going to continue your going to need to buy one eventually. This "250" only comes with one 3s battery so you'll need more and since it claims to handle 4s you might as will get those instead. No since having a bunch of 3s's lying around (believe me I know)... They do work good for your fat sharks you'll still need to complete the FPV setup. It has a CC3D flight controller that probably has dead Open Pilot on it and with how much Beta Flight or even Clean Flight out preforms it is (IMO) reason enough to avoid it... IF... Your getting it because you seriously want to do this. There's plenty more I could add but I think I made my point. That is a nice price though if you think there's a good chance this is just a passing fad for you. Is there a better RTF or ARF kit for a beginner flyer? 11-Jun-2016, 03:29 AM (11-Jun-2016, 02:57 AM)Xtopher98 Wrote: Is there a better RTF or ARF kit for a beginner flyer? Not trying to detour you from that option. Don't know of any others in that price range that would be better. I'm only saying that if your serious then you will be getting better equipment and nothing in that price range is worth upgrading. That money could easily go towards parts that are. Not too long ago the vortex was a great rtf option for those that already knew they we're hooked. Try and find something with a naze32 or better that'll run clean flight. 11-Jun-2016, 05:11 AM (11-Jun-2016, 03:29 AM)Trollhammered Wrote: Not trying to detour you from that option. The only reason I might not want to build my own quad is because I have never tuned a quad and it seems like it can be a huge learning curve. Also as far as I know there are no FPV pilots were where I life that could help me tune my quad when I build it. If you have money to spend, and don't mind buying more gear later on, i think this could be a good starting point... only concern I have with RTF quad is how easy it is to find replacement parts, especially for the frame.. i am sure you can still sell it if you decide to upgrade your gear later on... Edit: looks like you can get replacement parts for the frame too, maybe grab a couple of spare arms if you are going with this quad... This frame is very close to the ZMR250 frame so most of the parts for the ZMR fits the Falcon. But keep in mind that you can't mount the sidewalls and motor protections depending on what parts you change if they are not for the falcon Here is another RTF kit that doesn't look to bad: http://www.banggood.com/Kingkong-210GT-2...rehouse=CN 11-Jun-2016, 03:29 PM (11-Jun-2016, 03:02 PM)oyvinla Wrote: This frame is very close to the ZMR250 frame so most of the parts for the ZMR fits the Falcon. I have mine running on betaflight 2.6.1 and it runs pretty smooth on a 4s battery. The craft overall feels fairly heavy with a runcam hd mounted on it. Rolls are easy enough to do but I lose a lot of altitude on flips and I need some good height to pull them off without crashing. My biggest complaint is the fact that the usb port is only accessible if you pull of the top plate which makes it really frustrating when ever you need to go into cleanflight. I solved this problem by adding a bluetooth module so I can tune via my phone. That being said I just ordered a 210 frame with emax 2205 motors and 30a littlebee escs because I felt the EF 250 didn't have enough power. I'm still pretty new to fpv but here is a video I shot a while back with the EF250 (I have it much better tuned now, it looks really shaky in the video as I had no idea what I was doing at the time). 12-Aug-2016, 02:12 PM If you ever need to email eachine for support they do not respond. Eachine support is non-existant 02-Sep-2016, 12:07 AM (16-Jun-2016, 11:08 PM)ImpelRacing Wrote: The falcon is a pretty decent first Quad. Would you be willing to share your settings with me? Just got my Falcon 2 weeks ago, and I am in love with it but I want to try better settings this time, but I'm a little scared about all the setup. Is there any way to back up the original settings in case I run into issues? I was going to use this guide, but can I install betaflight 2.6.1 just the same as he installed cleanflight or will the steps be different? www.phasercomputers.com.au/2016/03/eachine-falcon-250/ 02-Sep-2016, 06:19 AM You can take screenshots of your cleanflight settings and a cli dump and copy it to a text document. Now you got a backup of everything. I would try a higher version of betaflight like 2.9.1 which is the latest stable, or latest version of 3.0.0. This version is in beta, but it looks to be stable and better that 2.9.1. Now you can try it with the default pids and normally, the tune should be pretty good. You can probably raise P just a little bit |
