It's a sad day for the RC industry. I just learned that another giant in the RC industry, DYS, has gone bankrupt. DYS were my favourite brand for budget motors and ESC and I really tried to help push their products because my positive experience with them. Such a shame! Attached is the Announcement from DYS shared by Alex Shen on Facebook. Translation: Due to poor management of the company, it is unable to pay debts and employee salaries. The company decided to close business in September. • Posts: 21,210 Threads: 583 Likes Received: 8,943 in 6,618 posts Likes Given: 1,425 Joined: Jun 2018 Reputation: 786 That is really sad news The unfortunate thing is that this is probably not the last. I bet some of the other companies are struggling too. • Posts: 668 Threads: 31 Likes Received: 208 in 158 posts Likes Given: 95 Joined: Feb 2019 Reputation: 14 I really love my DYS Samguk Wu cheap budget motors. When I was young RC planes and Helis were just a dream because everything was so expensive. DYS brought the RC world to a bunch more people with cheap but still reliable products. Really bad to see them go away. • Posts: 3,533 Threads: 265 Likes Received: 2,610 in 1,545 posts Likes Given: 3,893 Joined: Feb 2018 Reputation: 78 Yeah, that's too bad. Lots of competition for a small market share makes it tough. I agree with Snow, likely more will fall. • Posts: 1,197 Threads: 59 Likes Received: 592 in 395 posts Likes Given: 210 Joined: Mar 2019 Reputation: 42 So I haven't seen much of DYS since this, but I see their main website is running again... Does this mean they may be back? http://www.dys.hk/index.html Posts: 5,322 Threads: 673 Likes Received: 3,159 in 1,747 posts Likes Given: 2,032 Joined: Jan 2016 Reputation: 139 I have been talking to one of the sales managers who previously worked for DYS, she said she's now working for the factory that used to manufacture products for DYS, and now the factory has setup its own brand, called FlashHobby (flashhobby.com) Not sure if this is related, maybe they took over DYS's website too? just a speculation. Interesting. How in the world were you able to get in contact with one of the sales managers who used to work for DYS? I've been talking to a manufacturer who claims they are still sourcing from DYS. Seems odd and DYS' website has not been updated in ages. • Posts: 4,731 Threads: 392 Likes Received: 3,231 in 1,827 posts Likes Given: 3,214 Joined: Apr 2019 Reputation: 101 I am not familiar with bankruptcy laws in China but it could be the reorganized DYS post restructuring. Or equally possible, the buyer of DYS assets out of bankruptcy. And out of convenience or force of habit they still just call them DYS. • Posts: 5,322 Threads: 673 Likes Received: 3,159 in 1,747 posts Likes Given: 2,032 Joined: Jan 2016 Reputation: 139 17-Jul-2020, 11:39 PM (This post was last modified: 17-Jul-2020, 11:43 PM by Oscar.) DYS might be coming back? These motors are back in stock? https://www.banggood.com/DYS-SUN-FUN-SF2...rehouse=CN • Posts: 223 Threads: 23 Likes Received: 91 in 53 posts Likes Given: 126 Joined: Aug 2019 Reputation: 1 Yeah I noticed that my motors are back in stock as well. I am really glad they are back. I wonder if they can catch up to iflights xing line. Someone came out with motors recently that have a turbine blades build in to directly cool the motors. Patented too(in China) Wish they did that with all motors. • Posts: 188 Threads: 37 Likes Received: 18 in 11 posts Likes Given: 19 Joined: Jun 2020 Reputation: 0 19-Jul-2020, 05:46 AM (This post was last modified: 19-Jul-2020, 05:47 AM by Opatry.) I hope they’re back and hold strong! These are my favorite motors for cheap! So it seems that DYS aren't actually back. Another company called FlashHobby have apparently taken over all the manufacturing equipment that DYS owned. Manufacturing of the Samguk, Fire, Storm, Thor, and SUN-FUN motors is now discontinued and when existing left-over stock of those run out, that will be the last you see of them. FlashHobby have instead begun the manufacturing of a new line of motors called the "Arthur" series... https://www.banggood.com/search/flashhobby-arthur.html • Posts: 15 Threads: 0 Likes Received: 6 in 5 posts Likes Given: 8 Joined: Nov 2016 Reputation: 0 (14-Aug-2020, 11:45 AM)SnowLeopardFPV Wrote: So it seems that DYS aren't actually back. I wish they have hired the ex-engineers from the DYS company. Looking at the thrust sheets, they provided, I see a lot of mistakes. Also the biggest marketing mistake is to include HGLRC motors in their ad. Notice the HGLRC Sector 5 ? I've reached the FlashHobby, pointed this out and they've fixed the ads on their website, but you still can spot them in the Banggood's listing: https://www.banggood.com/Flashhobby-Arth...07015.html Let's wait and see if the legacy of the DYS will help them make good products. • |
