DJI O3 Air Unit
#1
Question
Hello everyone,

I'm planning to build my first drone and I think it's best to buy a DJI 03 AIR unit.
I see that it can only be used with a DJI controller, but I wonder what about the glasses?
Which glasses are compatible with the O3 air unit?

You can use either the DJI FPV Goggles V2 or the new DJI Goggles 2 with the new O3 Air Unit. For the DJI FPV Goggles V2 you just need to flash new firmware to them to make them compatible.

If you already own a pair of the DJI FPV Goggles V1 then you are unfortunately out of luck as it is highly unlikely those will ever be compatible with the O3 Air Unit.

To add onto what snowleopard said, you also don't have to use the DJI controller. You can use other radios and control systems to allow better performance and range if you'd like

Hmm, I didn't know that. But can I use Radiomaster TX16s with O3 air unit?
Are only DJI googles compatible with O3 air unit? Or I can use any other?

Can you tell me which one do you suggest using (googles & controller)?

Think of the O3 Air Unit as two components, a VTX (video transmitter) and a RX (radio control receiver). Of coarse you want to use the Air Unit as VTX, that's why you buy them.

If you want to use the Air Unit as RX also, then you need the DJI controller. However, you do not have to use it as RX, you can install another receiver on your qaud and use what ever you want that will work with your radio.

You can use any transmitter with the quad you install the O3 Air Unit in. You just need to make sure that a receiver which is compatible with the transmitter protocol you are using (FrSky, Flysky, Spektrum, TBS Crossfire, TBS Tracer, ImmersionRC Ghost, ExpresaLRS etc,) is wired to the flight controller in the quad.

The DJI O3 Air Unit is a proprietary DJI system so it will only work with either the DJI FPV Goggles V2 or DJI Goggles 2. Both goggles have pros and cons so only you can decide which ones will be best for you. It's probably best to watch some YouTube reviews but a few comparisons are below and others are shown HERE.
