Diatone Mamba F722 mini FC - Part 1
#1
Hey Guys,

This is my tutorial on the Diatone Mamba F722 mini FC that I recently installed on my Gecko frame.  Actually I swapped out and existing Diatone mamba F405 because I broke the USB port.  I decided to put the F7 because of the extra Uarts and plus this had a barometer.  There will be a part 2.  Let me known what you think.

Nice video man! Very good production value. I actually found this helpful as I just ordered the DJI version of this board. Thanks for sharing.

I have started applying additional "security" to the USB connector on ALL of my FCs regardless of brand or type. At this point, I am using Bondic which is a UV curable liquid plastic. It seems to work well...so far, the FCs where I have secured the USB in this manner have remained intact and have not come off.

Another way to mitigate the broken off USB socket issue is to keep a special USB cable that isn't a tight fit in the socket. A lot of the problems stem from the constant plugging in and unplugging of a USB cable, and if it's a tight fit then each time you do that you are putting unnecessary force on the socket which is only held in place with solder. I have one specific USB cable that is dedicated for use with my quads only and it slides in and out of the socket with no force needed at all. I have never broken off any USB sockets using that cable, and my very first quad which I still fly has had literally hundreds (maybe even over a thousand) connections and disconnections using that USB cable with no sign whatsoever of the socket having been damaged or weakened.

Hi Snow,

Sounds like a good idea. Thing is, I am not sure how to make a cable fit "loose". Also, I only have 1 (or maybe two) cables that will actually work due to the large plastic housing on the USB cable. In fact, the one that I use, I had to "whittle" down with a knife to be able to use it. Anyway, good idea.

How my USB connector broke was handling the craft after plugging the cable in.

Thank you.  I believe the DJI is more Air Unit friendly since it has the voltage regulator.  That's good to hear.

Thank you!  That happened to mine too.  I'm not sure if I mentioned it on my video.  I actually soldered back on but didn't work as well.

I installed a right angle USB cable on my franken bugs3 FC  because of that, i cut the 1 foot cable (usb ) to about 6 inches, and leaved the USB A pigtail wire tied to a leg of the quad
that way the stress is on the pigtail and no on the FC USB port Big Grin
I only know that i know nothing
