Designed and printed my first drone frame!
#1
I wrecked the frame for my THF2, so I spent the last 2 days designing, printing, and assembling the parts into a whole new quad! I did mess up my arm measurements, so instead of 2.5 inch, it's now a 3 inch, but other than that small issue I think it came out okay - Now I just have to wait for the winds to quit so I can test it out!

For filament I went with CarbonX PLA+CF (Info), I figured it may help keep any vibrations down to a minimum through the frame.

Nice!

I’ll be curious to see if you still run into any of the usual problems that come with 3d printing a frame.

What was your dry frame weight?
Dangerous operations.

Disclaimer: I don’t know wtf I’m talking about.
I wish I could get the smell of burnt electronics out of my nose.

nice, hopefully it will work

thats on the heavy side, i flew one pla frame. it flew ok on 2,5inch - it was cold and it didnt survive the single crash on maiden in the ph. temperature wasnt a good thing for that frame for sure, that wasnt to fair.

i used the design by dave_c, e did a lot of progress on printed frames, maybe you could get inspiration for a v2 on his thingiverse account.

i dont know waht motorsize is on the thf2 but they might be able to spin the gemfan 3018 and beeing efficiency, not as powerfull as befor. from vibration focus, it could be benefical about lower rpms? or maybe worse from the inrtia by the rotor itself?
