Well, a short build log this time as most of you know the old faithful pimped up Cinelog 25 by now. But ....
As i had no use for it anymore as replaced this week by my CineBot 30 build , and the final resting place of its organs (micro long range frame) will not arrive until januari, lets have some fun and deconstruct / reconstruct it to something fun and fast.
Name : CineWarp 25
Parts that survived the rip:
AIO - GEPRC F722 35A
VTX - Vista (no clothes, bit banged up but solid as a rock)
CAM - Caddx Polar (could change it for the polar nano , likely not)
MOTORS - geprc GR1404 4500KV
RX - Crossfire Nano , my old and faithfull
VTX Antenna - The one that came with a runcam kit
RX Antenna - Immortal T , looks cool and unlimited range
TPU - some immortal T holder , no idea where from
LEDS - of course
Parts removed :
- Prop guards ( byebye)
- Props, boring 3 blades gemfans
- Matek GPS (this will go to fast to ever return home anyway)
- Baro (is limited to within the atmosphere and this will enter vacuum space)
Parts added :
Props - 8 blades HQprops (just because i can and they sound great. )
TPU - some standoffs on the original , now inverted cam holder to better position the cam at level
Metal - new different length screws for motors and inverted cam mount
Div - some zipties and glue
Procedure:
- Remove all unneeded parts
- desolder unneeded stuff and clean up board
- flip the frame 180 degrees
- mount motors direct on carbon frame ( use shorter screws or you kill them)
- flip the cam mount and add some standoffs and long mounting screws (i had some 5 mm tpu laying around and was enough)
- flip the cam of course
- added tpu mount for immortal T
- lots of zip ties for vtx antenna etc and some glue for led strip
- nicely tuck away all wires, the crossfire nano (sandwiched between aio and vista) etc to not get cut by the props
- short stopper / betaflight motors remap and direction wizzards
- do a quick and dirty guestimate of the new tune and rates ( go for super safe as might jump to interstellar space on launch
- mount props
- add lipo (now underslung)
- pray and move all loved ones to another room
Maiden launch
As i had no idea what to expect i put it on my bed in my closed bedroom with pillows around so it would land soft if it would go crazy. Then i stepped way back
- 1st attempt
It flipped like a mad dolphin beeing shot in the but.
Failure : forgot to reallign / reorientate the board/gyro in betaflight and it was now upside down according to BF. Not good ....
- 2nd attempt
It tried to enter interstellar space only blocked by the ceiling and then straight for me. My disarm reflex was not fast enough .
Victim : 1 prop and (to lesser extent), 1 ceiling spot, 1 hurt confidence
Failure : Had to reaaaaaly drop the pid tune to safe levels this time ;-) and to be safe , cut the max rates in half.
Already had throttle limit on 75% (on my tango 2 on a switch i have 3 mixes with different throttle curves that i can use on any quad)
- 3rd attempt (on 3s to be sure)
It hovered , with bad sounding vibration and then it went left without me touching the gimbal and crashed in bed.
Failure : i had mounted the led bar directly to the imortal T. At least that is the only explanation i had. Its pulsing signals may have messed with the control signals . So remounted the led bar and it was normal again
- 4rd attempt (on 4s , lets gooo)
YESSSS, beautyfull hover and nice sounding 32 blades.
Way better than the crappy normal sound of whoops . Bit like a turboprop plane. Have to realy control my throttle on 4s . Flies fine on 3 , great on 4 . You feel the power . It want to destroy the moon surface and anything in its path inbetween . I have to soon when the weather gets barable test this baby outside. Going to be a blast . Probably will get out of my control but thats part of the fun with this build.
Did a few endurance test on my fav lipo , the 4s 900Mah HV Flywoo explorer (these guys make great lipos, the 2s version of this is also my fav for my tiny flyers) gave me an easy 9:30 mins. So lots spare to let it rip and scream.
Anyway, had lots of fun rebuilding this thing and surely have even more fun flying it in a few weeks or so. Maybe there will be snow , who knows....
Some glamour shots
