Crazybee F4 V2 (Mobula7) issue with heading direction and behaviour in flight
#1
Hello everyone,

I am new to the game so please excuse the lack of proper terminology and knowledge which rest assured is made up for by loads of enthusiasm for the hobby.

I got myself a first BNF kit: a Mobula7 my first was an F3, after a few crashes the RX stopped working - was unable to bind, and recently I got myself another Mobula7 which this time came equipped with the Crazybee F4 V2 Pro version of the FC.

I loved it since first flight. However, after a few packs and admittedly crashes (I am learning some freestyle in air mode, so mistakes happen I guess) I noticed a strange behaviour of the quad. It is hard to explain, but at times, when cornering hard or with strong angles of attack (always on the roll axis though) the FC corrects the maneuver making the quad behave weirdly. I recalibrated the accellerometer in Betaflight but this did not fix the issue. When in Betaflight I noticed that the heading direction changes autonomously when the quad is sitting on the desk, and specifically it increases by 1 degree every second clockwise. I recalibrate but the problem persists.

Is this an issue with the gyro? Can it be fixed? If so, does anyone know how? Could this be responsible for the overcorrections on the roll axis?

Thanks in advance for any help

If you fly in Angle mode, there is specific angle that the quad will not go pass. Maybe this is what you are experiencing. What mode are you flying in? Airmode is not a true flight mode. It is an adjunct feature.

The degrees moving round by 1 degree per second unfortunately seems to be one of the characteristics of the Crazybee F4 flight controllers. I have a brand new Crazybee F4 Pro V3 which has never been flown or crashed and it does exactly the same. The way to fix that is by running the following commands in the CLI...

Code:
set acc_lpf_hz = 1
save

However, I don't think that is the underlying cause of your issue. Did you change any settings at all in Betaflight just before it started behaving that way?

I had similar problems with my Trashcan. I think it was related to one motor losing power (or sync) but I never really fixed it before I lost the kwad (https://intofpv.com/t-lost-my-trashcan)

If you didn't change anything in Betaflight (compare your diff to the factory settings please) it must be a hardware problem. Something may be damaged after the crashes. Check the motors (do they all spin freely? no dirt inside?) and the props (are they level?). Check the motor connectors (are they clean?) and push the metal parts down with simething like a small flat screwdriver or a toothpick so the connection surface is as large as possible. Check if the FC is level and seated correctly in the rubber standoffs.

Lastly, also check how you mount your battery. I found that if the battery is in the middle the kwad isn't actually well-balanced, so two motors have to work a lot harder than the others. Try to balance the center of gravity.

I really hope you can fix it. If not, chances are there's an electrical component (like an ESC's FET) that isn't working properly anymore, or a motor is damaged.
