Would there be any downside to adding a conformal coating onto the nake GoPro pcbs? I was hoping it may add a layer of protection from shorts. Would there be any drawbacks to trying it out and are there any pcbs where conformal coating is a no go?

If you have conformal coated circuit board before with success then go for it.

I am personally not a fan of conformal coating apart from then the manufacturer does it for me Smile

I am still not sure how much conformal coating can help avoid shorts. Water damage maybe but shorts I do not think so.
