Have done a bit of light research on the topic, but was just curious what you all run. I have an iMax B6, and charge either one 4S @ 0.8A, or five 4S on a parallel board @ 1.8A. I am getting a new ISDT Q6 in, and am curious what amperage you all push on your batteries? I always want to keep it safe, and never harm the batteries, so I have always tried to keep it low. Thoughts? • Posts: 2,286 Threads: 38 Likes Received: 1,527 in 995 posts Likes Given: 1,881 Joined: Apr 2016 Reputation: 72 I normally charge batteries at 1C, but if I'm in a hurry, I'll charge them at 2C. • Posts: 122 Threads: 6 Likes Received: 77 in 48 posts Likes Given: 93 Joined: Aug 2017 Reputation: 4 I use an ISDT Q6+ with a 350W psu and if I were to charge a single 4S 1300 mAh I would use 1.3 amps, when I use a parallel board for the same capacity of batteries I use 1.3 amps per battery. 2C should be fine but I find I am usually not in a rush and like to baby my batteries. Also I always use 1C for my goggle batteries. How do you like that charger btw? • Posts: 122 Threads: 6 Likes Received: 77 in 48 posts Likes Given: 93 Joined: Aug 2017 Reputation: 4 24-Dec-2017, 09:15 PM (This post was last modified: 24-Dec-2017, 09:16 PM by McDee.) I'm very happy with it! I am planning on getting a voltage reference to calibrate it however. They are not perfect from the factory, though pretty close I hear. I just think it's worth the time to make it as good as possible to max the battery life. Joshua Bardwell did two good videos recently on calibrating these chargers. Check the specs for your batteries. Some are quite happy to be charged at 5C. It all depends on the battery. • Posts: 70 Threads: 10 Likes Received: 15 in 12 posts Likes Given: 4 Joined: Dec 2017 Reputation: 1 Imax b6 A wee bit inexperienced here but b6 doesn't let you charge at the wrong rate..also bought life battery for taranis q x7 and the Imax b6 supports its charging mode • Posts: 12,099 Threads: 125 Likes Received: 3,739 in 2,836 posts Likes Given: 99 Joined: Feb 2017 Reputation: 388 Imax b6 allows amp control. I can charge more packs at once, but I found it easier to match the voltages in pairs, and easier to handle if there is a problem. That way i can be sure that they are all close enough so that I can charge six at a time in the morning on 1C. Having six batteries ready to go after 45 minutes is a great time saver. I find that I am more consistent when I land that the lipos are in the general voltage. Probably some of the best tips I have encountered yet!! I have always wondered about doing that, but hesitated to do so. Now that I am looking at the ISDT, I wonder, for the extra price of this setup, is it really worth it. I still need to get a decent power supply to run the thing, which is pretty big and loud. On a side note, have any of you tried the "current sensor calibration" through betaflight? I was thinking of giving it a shot here soon and was just curious. • |
