Carnage V2 3.5 inch analog build
#1
I been buying parts on clearance for about a year and aliexpress must have an abundance of the new t-motor 1604 motors for they were almost 1/2 price. With free shipping rates I expected 2 months but got them in about 2 weeks.

The Carnage V2 3.5 inch is available from cncdrones and it should be well under 250 grams with 4S 850 tatuu pack.

As pictured assembled it weighs 32grams.

With the electronics I currently have on it as pictured it’s at 107 grams.
I still need to mount a nano camera,Truerc  lite antenna, plus a few finishing parts which I’m hoping keeps the weight under 130 grams without lipo.

 I’m using T-motor 1604 3800k,ghost hybrid duo vtx/rx,JHEMCU AIO 35amp GHF405 FC/ESC,Toothless Nano V2 starlight and a Truerc lite antenna.

I have a 3” Avio and it’s 130 grams without 4S 850 and with 1504 3900 it’s a really fast fun quad plus it’ll get 8 minutes of flying if I cruise. The carnage should be very close in weight and a bit quicker accelerating.
I like fast accelerating more than speed.

That looks like it will be a fun one to fly.
I dig the arm design.

I’m also a big fan of things on clearance. Big Grin
Dangerous operations.

Disclaimer: I don’t know wtf I’m talking about.
I wish I could get the smell of burnt electronics out of my nose.

Finally got the parts needed to finish up the build.
A Toothless Nano V2,Truerc antenna, and some thin battery pad material.

Although it’s almost done the last few steps will be the most tedious like most micro quads are.

The camera is slightly touching the stack which I can fix but I will have to reduce camera angle.
Should have it ready by the weekend for sure and hopefully some nice weather to maiden.

I don’t remember if you have a 3d printer? If you printed a new camera mount with the holes 1 or 2mm forward, it looks like your cam will still be well protected by the arms.
Dangerous operations.

Hi Rob,

I would just flip the camera mount around so that the camera is forward of the
standoff columns.

Like I did on the Katana-LR4 build:

I was able to get enough clearance.
I got rid of the excessive up tilt and the back of camera isn’t touching the stack nut.
I think using a 20 by 20 AIO or mounting the whoop AIO square would have kept the AIO from taking so much forward space on the frame.
I got a few flights in today.I’ll have this new build done by the end of week and hopefully some warm weather this weekend so I can see how the 1604 motors do.

FWIW,
I don’t know if it’s unusual for a vtx to be noisy on just one power setting but the ghost hybrid duo I’m using is noisy when it’s set to 100mw.

There is a 1mw setting and maybe it’s going to 1mw instead of 100mw.

Anyway after messing with the noise problems and finding out it’s just at one setting I can finish up the build and tidy up the lose ends.

It’s done except battery pad,a few zip ties and some tape.

It’s done and ready for maiden flight.
The total weight with battery strap is right at 125 grams and with a 4S 850 tatuu 222-223 grams ready to fly.
Sun is out today and it’s supposed to be up to 60 so looks like should be able to maiden and put a few packs through it.
I’m curious to see how the 1604 motors perform.T-motor made them for 3.5” props and they are light at 11.5 grams each.

Each motor is supposed to have 500 grams of thrust on 4S.
If so that’s 2,000 grams of thrust with a 225 gram quad.
It’ll be interesting to see how quick it climbs.

I’m impressed and surprised with the 1604 motors.
They are slightly more powerful than 1504.5 but more efficient with longer flight times.
I got 8 minutes easy several times and I wasn’t going easy on the throttle.

It’s a great flying frame. It flies like a racer and reminds me a lot of my Avio .

If I build another 3.5” I’ll definitely use t-motor 1604 again and may use the frame again.
It’s a well designed light and durable frame.

The toothless nano V2 starlight looked very good in cloudy weather today.
I’ll try to post some footage.
I got some DVR footage on a SDcard so I will post some soon.

Here's some footage,
Nothing spectacular flying wise but shows quality of Toothless Nano camera and just a note current meter needs calibrating.

My camera is on default settings which is everything set to auto.I set camera to PAL format.
For a cloudy day the colors do look better than regular or non starlight lenses.
I don't know what is happening with video or if the is a better way to post on forum.

I see by clicking on the title it’ll go to airvuz to view the video.

I’ve had some similar issues with airvuz in the past where videos don’t want to play unless you click on it and then click on the title. Dunno why.

Anyhow. Nice flying. Smile
Looks like it’s got some nice power/thrust.
Those motors are incredibly light compared to the thrust they make according to the manufacturer. I definitely want to try them out in the future.
