Can I run an analog VTX on this FC?
#1
Guys, I need help as I am unable to find any online. Perhaps one of you know.
I just got a TMOTOR F7 DJI and looking at the UARTs I do not see any where I can put a regular analog VTX. Can this unit support it? Where do I put it?

https://store.tmotor.com/goods.php?id=935

In the schematics it sort of shows but I am not 100% sure. Else, I'm stuck with a FC that I cannot use. I personally do not see the need to spend so much to get some better picture quality. It's just not worth it to me.

Thanks for the help

Yes. You can use this fc with a analog vtx.. it also has a sbus location (smart audio/tramp). There are several ways u can do it.. if ur vtx supports the same voltage as a DJI unit.. u can use the plug header for the DJI unit..or u can locate other vid/in. Vid/out. Pads…
Just because it’s says /DJI, doesn’t mean it is ONLY for DJI… the manufactures just made it easier (bec for proper voltage, 1.5 uarts, ) on a plug …
Less soldering for the end user.. I THINK the plug is even properly wired so the standard DJI cable can be used..
DONT QUOTE, confirm this information not only with diagrams.. but with a multimeter also… it’s cheap insurance..

Rob, I can't thank you enough for your reply. It's both very detailed and professional. I will follow these tips. I really didn't want to go buy another FC.

Thanks again!!

the VTX I got for this build is the iFlight BLITZ 1.6W running at 7-36V: Input 2-8s Battery power. So the DJI plug's DC being at 10V should be just fine. I "think"

The FC does not have an OSD chip, so you won't get any OSD if you use this for analog. Manufacturers typically use "DJI" as a description to mean that it has a plug for use with the DJI system, but some also omit the analog video support like here.

Crap! then in my usecase this is not going to work. Can't fly blind unless BF has a "soft" OSD feature? If not, then I'm screwed.

What are u looking for in the OSD? If it is “basic” stuff, check your camera info… some have osd features.. not a lot.. but some do..
I had a old f3 w/o OSD… but was able to keep a eye on my voltage using the camera osd..

What a screw up. OSD to me is anything you could want but not really put on. But being limited kinda sucks. I would want dist from home, RSSI levels and useful telemetry like that but it seems that relying on what the cam outputs may not be ideal.
Shit!

Decided to go with a Radix 2 from brainpfv. Looking forward to more cpu power H7. I'll keep this around.
