Port rear motor winding came is loose in the bell and shorted. I thought it was started to sound a little off on the flight before so I was taking it easy. In the parts drawer sat a set of HobbyMate 2204's that I was going to install in to the Hornet. They are installed and I was able to fly one more quick pack around the yard. Nothing bad happened and I have to say that these motors feel super smooth to me. SoCal Kaity :D OMG, no one told me it would be this much fun! The fern did a little more than knock KT-Mini down. It flexed a prop enough to catch a motor wire and pull it from the motor. It also pulled part of the pad away from the ESC board. I had a spare 2204-2300kv motor, different brand but good enough to test with. The ESC board was an easy fix as after scraping away a small amount of conformity coating, was able to create a fresh pad area for soldering. The motor changed and ESC re-soldered, it flies about like a remember. Lowered the camera angle back to about 30 degrees. Just not a need for that speed in my small yard. Managed to do in another motor through a trivial crash. I have a RacerStar replacement on the way so that I can get it aloft with its pretty motors and was flying on a set of HobbyMate 2204/2300kv. Now I have 3 of those and a JYU 2204 motor. It flies, but I am pretty mellow with it until I can get the RacerStar's installed again. It now has the TBS Unify Pro HV pushing out the signal off the RunCam Swift 2 camera. It is flying well enough. Have been messing with different props...it has the Dal Prop 5040 v2 installed right now. It seemed to like the thinner blades with its pink motors. With these 2204 motors, it likes wider blades. A quick post TG morning flight video. One of these days I might actually catch a trick or two! SoCal Kaity :D OMG, no one told me it would be this much fun! One of these days, you're going to catch those power lines that run across the street at the entrance to your property. I have good feel for the "limit lines" of the yard and obstacles... Did have a question, how many cycles do you feel would be practical from a battery pack? Just a rough guess. The one I have been using most has about 30 or so through it now and it still feels fine for my way of flying. SoCal Kaity :D OMG, no one told me it would be this much fun! A good battery pack should last 300 cycles before it noticeably starts to show reduced capacity. If you abuse them by discharging them too hard or to too low a voltage, the number of cycles before they get tired will be considerably less. I was just wondering is all. You have seen my flying and I feel like I am pretty mellow most of the time. A few uncontrolled outbursts here and there...but that is in every aspect of life I have a Floureon 4s pack on its way and then I will have a cheap one to abuse. Those power lines have popped up in front of Lizzy, The Whoop and the JYU a few times. KT-110 and KT-Mini have avoided them so far and I have a pretty good spotter most of the time I tried to fly this morning and just could not relax into any sort of groove, so I am on the computer instead. Cannot wait to have the pretty motors back on...black is great for nights out, but looks a little drab on my quad SoCal Kaity :D OMG, no one told me it would be this much fun! Addicted :) |
