I'm an EV800D fan so can't recommend or comment on slim lines but my 2 cents worth is make sure you leave enough for good antennas.

They are definitely a you get what you pay for item.

If youre looking at the FatShark Attitude V5 and the Skyzone SKY02X goggles, another one probably worth looking at in that price range is the Eachine EV200D goggles.

I've watched crap ton of reviews and comparisons and the skyzones seem to be more comfortable, more intuitive, the battery in the pocket is much better than around the head, it has an hdmi, higher resolution, and some say the screen looks better........ why not the skyzones? Is it just because customer support and the oled screen? (I don't care a ton about the vxr, I don't want to drop $150 on a rapidfire thats on;y like 15% better than what comes with it)

EV200D's have 42 degrees FOV, SKY02X's have 30 degrees, big difference.
EV200D's have 1280x720 LCOS screens, SKY02X's have 854x480 WVGA not OLED, not sure what you were looking at.
EV200D's have a replaceable VRX, SKY02X's do not.  Just an option I would prefer, even though I might not use it.

Having used the EV200D's for a couple years now, nothing wrong with battery on the back, actually balances the goggles nicely.
I agree that the user interface isn't the most intuitive, but once setup you don't really need to go back in the menus very often.
Long press to start the DVR is the biggest complaint most people have for the user interface.

Skyzone makes great goggles and it sounds like you are leaning towards them, just wanted to give my opinion.

Skyzone 02x because it fits well into most faces.
