So i have this new mini quad and sometimes its really hard to find him when it falls. i saw on youtube a way to put some kind of beeper in it that can be activated through the remote. Whats the name of that or where can i buy it?? • Posts: 2,354 Threads: 118 Likes Received: 812 in 659 posts Likes Given: 127 Joined: Feb 2021 Reputation: 20 That would be a “normal” beeper.. it is soldered directly to the fc and setup to a switch.. PropsOff fpv had mentioned he was looking for a smaller (can’t remember size) for mini quads.. as for the normal beepers.. any fpv supplier should carry them. They are cheap if u buy them in a handful from china • Posts: 590 Threads: 16 Likes Received: 176 in 149 posts Likes Given: 26 Joined: Jun 2021 Reputation: 8 This is the one I like : https://www.viflydrone.com/viflybuzzer.html It has it's own battery so if your lipo ejects in the crash it still beeps. It also has a flashing LED on it, and it beeps LOUD!. You can also use your motors as a beeper by setting it up in BetaFlight. It's not nearly as loud, and it doesn't work if your battery ejects in crash, but it is better than nothing. They also make smaller versions of the beeper I linked above, if you are on a quad smaller than a 5", or a very tight build. • Posts: 771 Threads: 5 Likes Received: 443 in 325 posts Likes Given: 209 Joined: May 2021 Reputation: 14 My buddy has that vifly buzzer and it's been invaluable at a place we fly with tall grass. Can't always rely on the main battery in a crash from either ejecting or a wire getting cut. Take note of the disarm button on it and mount it in such a way that you can get to it if you can. You can still disarm with a procedure with the main battery though, so you have options. • Posts: 6,106 Threads: 172 Likes Received: 2,283 in 1,830 posts Likes Given: 4,733 Joined: Feb 2019 Reputation: 100 07-Aug-2021, 04:46 PM (This post was last modified: 07-Aug-2021, 04:47 PM by hugnosed_bat.) to fly around i shortrange a buzzer with battery can be an issue, if you stuck in a tree and the lipo pluged off, it will scream to everybody that you are trying to get your quad out of the tree until the battery is empty or you get it back. xD they arent always a good thing xD i use them just on quads for doing mid to longrange in pure nature. as rob told a normal buzzer, or just enable dshot motorbeeps and set them on a switch. your motors will act as beeper if you trigger the switch. • Posts: 2,354 Threads: 118 Likes Received: 812 in 659 posts Likes Given: 127 Joined: Feb 2021 Reputation: 20 Not sure what google setup u have my module (I’ve been told others also do) have a “find my quad” option.. it has saved my skin many times… • Posts: 932 Threads: 49 Likes Received: 192 in 157 posts Likes Given: 186 Joined: Jul 2020 Reputation: 11 (07-Aug-2021, 04:05 PM)MrSolo Wrote: This is the one I like : https://www.viflydrone.com/viflybuzzer.html It has it's own battery so if your lipo ejects in the crash it still beeps. It is a lot louder than previously purchased buzzers. Just don't make the mistake of mounting it where you can't reach the disarm button! I've got one quad where I have to use something to press the button, kinda a pain unless you swap batteries out real quick. Yes you can double connect the battery but I don't like that option as it just hastens the need to replace your xt-60 connector if you have a heavy load on connecting, best to use the button. • Posts: 21,228 Threads: 584 Likes Received: 8,957 in 6,628 posts Likes Given: 1,425 Joined: Jun 2018 Reputation: 786 Just be aware that the VIFLY Finder self-powered buzzers don't even work as a normal buzzer if the mini LiPo on them drains or dies, in which case they then become useless. Other self-powered buzzers I've tried such as ones by URUAV, the Fullspeed Luckbox Buzzer, and the Aurora AR Tracker can still be manually operated as a normal buzzer in that scenario. Wow, I did not know that. I guess cause I haven’t had the battery go bad. Can you replace the little lipo? • Posts: 4,550 Threads: 38 Likes Received: 1,245 in 1,064 posts Likes Given: 430 Joined: Aug 2020 Reputation: 118 (08-Aug-2021, 06:17 AM)Kevin2112 Wrote: Wow, I did not know that. I used some replacement LiPos I got from AliExpress (see another post HERE). Because those tiny generic 1S LiPos they aren't made to a particularly good quality, it doesn't take much use before the cell starts to deteriorate. With no real option of battery management, they often get stored at full voltage which also doesn't help their lifespan. • Posts: 932 Threads: 49 Likes Received: 192 in 157 posts Likes Given: 186 Joined: Jul 2020 Reputation: 11 (08-Aug-2021, 03:31 PM)kafie1980 Wrote: Of course there is! Right on, they for sure are fully charged after flying several packs! • Posts: 6,106 Threads: 172 Likes Received: 2,283 in 1,830 posts Likes Given: 4,733 Joined: Feb 2019 Reputation: 100 i replaced the battery too. it was from a fail, it ringed permanently -at home, not in use for long time...- it was crazy, soo loud inside, after cutaway the lipo and replaced it, it works again. hopefully it wont freakout anymore xD • Posts: 21,228 Threads: 584 Likes Received: 8,957 in 6,628 posts Likes Given: 1,425 Joined: Jun 2018 Reputation: 786 Yes, this is one thing the self-powered buzzer manufacturers fail to tell you in the marketing blurb - that the onboard LiPo will likely have a short life and need to be regularly checked and periodically replaced. I bet there aren't many self-powered buzzers out there that continue sounding for the number of hours in their specification sheet after they have been on a quad for a few months. • |
