Can you an individual ESC with any FC?
So say i have a standard F411 AIO FC. The three pads for the motor (or connector) are +v, -v, signal?
If you wire an individual ESC +v and -v to the battery (bypass the ESC on the AIO FC) and the signal wire to the signal pad on the ESC/FC would it work?
Sorry for the almost baby level question. Just trying to get my head around it.
Unless I’m misunderstanding what you’re asking, no- the three pads per motor output on an aio are strictly motor output. They run directly to the 3 pads on the motor, which then leads to the coils inside of the motor. Those pads are outputing voltage at motor drive levels, turning on and off/pulsing at the appropriate times to magnetize the appropriate coils at the appropriate times to make the motor spin.
You could run a single esc +/- to the battery, but you would have to find a place to tap into a motor signal for the esc signal wire.
Most aio fc’s don’t have those broken out. Some will have a couple broken out, I’ve got a few that have the signal for motor 5 and 6 broken out into pads because it’s only got 4 onboard esc’s, and I believe you can remap the led pad (maybe others?) to be a motor signal.
Standard non-aio (no included esc’s), yes, you’ve got the right concept- wire the esc +/- to battery, and wire the signal to m1 pad, m2 pad, etc.
Dangerous operations.
