121 13-Sep-2023, 11:27 PM (This post was last modified: 13-Sep-2023, 11:37 PM by Lemonyleprosy.) Just about every esc that I’ve seen that is rated for 5A constant/continuous current is rated for 6A peak. 8A and 11A are definitely too much current to draw through them.
It looks like even running low pitch bi-blades (1610) would put you in the danger zone pulling over 6A with the 19,800kv motors without a motor limit.
Given that amp draw @ at a given throttle position isn’t a linear scale, for those 1635’s I’d probably start conservatively at 70% and work my way up.
That, or put them on a higher rated esc with a watt meter inline and find out just how high you can push them without going over 6A.
Edit- that conservative motor output limit was for the 19800kv. Those 23’s are a whole different story. I’d probably start at 60% motor limit on those, but honestly, I’d be a lot more comfortable just properly testing/measuring their amp draw on an esc that can handle it first.

59 Inflight even at full throttle it seemed fine. Maybe the typical 1S battery and 1S connector will also sag enough to prevent the setup from pulling too many amps (A30 is only designed for 15A continuous). But in a crash or with the prop being blocked on a single motor, I guess that's when the problem comes.
I am a little surprised that Flywoo sells the BNF with a 5A board and no motor limit is set in the configuration either. But don't know, it doesn't really seem like there are too many people blowing ESCs, haven't heard of any others so far.

19 My Freestyle frame was supplied with and is still on four blades. Used a LOT and its been fine on the earlier non-bugged Bluejay, again as supplied.

59 Something odd is happening here. I was ready to replace the AIO with a Betafpv 1-2S 12A AIO (and perfect as the onboard 5v BEC will run the WS VTX and won't have to worry about brownout), but before swapping it in, thought I'd test the JHEMCU board one more time to make sure I mark the bad ESC correctly. Well all four motors are spinning strong now?!?! What's going on?
